Did Dermot piss off Celine Dion on The X Factor?

Is it just us, or does Celine Dion look rather annoyed standing behind Dermot during Saturday's X Factor? For those who missed it (and if you did, what the hell were you doing?!), Dermy was chatting to Celine on the results show just after she'd belted out her new song, and was asking for her thoughts on the contestants' performances earlier in the evening. Celine proceeded to chat about virtually every single act on the show and would clearly have left no time for the actual results if Derm hadn't eventually interrupted her. He proceeded to turn to the camera and thank Dion for her contribution, noting cheekily that "she can talk as well as sing"! And that's when Ms Dion adpoted a rather unimpressed look. Considering the embarrassing sucking-up to Celine that everyone else on the show indulged in, we say go Dermot! That's exactly why we love you. As for the rest of the show, it was pretty compelling stuff, and unlike the outrageous goings-on over on Strictly, at least the right person got the boot. And as for Louis, getting him to sing Build Me Up Buttercup – what WERE you thinking??

Jackie 29-10-2007 05:49 PM

Celine was going on abit though!!

officialleafan 29-10-2007 05:50 PM

:cloud: Rubbish presenter!
How can he upset Celine Dion like that! Axe him NOW!!

Spike 29-10-2007 05:51 PM

lol she doesn't look very happy.

Redmond 29-10-2007 05:51 PM

Yeah she was practically running through every single act, plus all the sycophantic stuff from earlier in the show got too much, so I'm glad Dermot was a little cheeky. :)

Matt 29-10-2007 05:52 PM

Thank god he did. She needed to be brought down a notch.

Jackie 29-10-2007 05:55 PM

Yes how can she overtake the show? She's already had enough air time on saturday.:cloud:

Captain.Remy 29-10-2007 06:08 PM

Lol she was a little bit pissed I guess.
Fortunatly this year she's the godmother of the 7th edition of Star Aacademy in France, with Kylie Minogue, she's treated so much better here.

She was going on a bit. I think he did p*ss her off a bit, but please don't bring back Kate Thornton.

I still like Dermot - and I think he was right to interrupt, but perhaps he could've done it a little better because she is viewed as an icon to many, so you wouldn't want to talk to her in a disrespectful manner. However, I personally don't really think he was - he attempted to make it slightly humorous in order to shift attention away from Celine momentarily, which is an approach most good presenters would take.

Also, it was unnecessary for Celine Dion to comment on each and every act in such a manner, seeing as we had already seen the footage on the video clips before each act went on stage - therefore had an idea about her views in general.

I doubt she was truly annoyed at what Dermot said, more acting a little - as the exaggerated expression from the picture above shows. I would have expected her to laugh, since we didn't see how she reacted on the night itself when we saw Dermot say it.

He did say to her that they were running out of time but she still carried on with her assessment of every single act in the competition, perhaps he could've been a bit more subtle in his approach but it's his job to keep the show running on time and he needed to step in.

I much prefer Dermot to Kate, much more interaction with the judges rather than just going on with the monotonous routine that Kate did, week in week out.

LOL I did laugh when he said "She can sing, and she can talk too" or whatever it was.

I do agree, she was on the 7th French X Factor launch last tuesday and she hasn't been treated like that.

Yeh, although Celine is quite a laid back person and i dont think she would have taken much offense by it.

Riz 29-10-2007 08:13 PM

yeah he was rude i know she was talking but that was rude "she can talk" tut tut.

andybigbro 29-10-2007 11:56 PM

i thought he did to haa but she was rambling on

Lauren 30-10-2007 12:00 AM

I would've just slapped her.

CookieDough3000 30-10-2007 05:34 PM

And yet, children are starving.

If she was pissed off, she should get over herself. If she wasn't, there's o issue.

Shaun 30-10-2007 11:10 PM

In the words of Jonty, she's SEETHING WITH RAGE.

As my avatar clearly shows.

Noel 31-10-2007 09:57 AM

I just watched the video and she wasnt angry. She made that face when she said "Niki. What a gutsy girl" then she smiled afterwards when Dermot said "Thank you, Celine."

Watch it:

http://www.dailymotion.com/country:f...taking-chances

its at 7:03

It was before he said "She can sing and she can talk."

The Sun made this up.

Sam 31-10-2007 10:00 AM

Nah, i dont think she was angry, especially over something so small

Captain.Remy 31-10-2007 10:04 AM

She wasn't angry, she was just surprised because she didn't finished her sentence.
