Strictly Come Dancing stars Matt Di Angelo and Alesha Dixon are secretly dating, The People can reveal.

They have been openly flirting backstage during filming of the BBC1 show.

And 20-year-old Matt, who plays Deano Wicks in EastEnders, has told friends he and Alesha are smitten with each other.

He and singer Alesha, 29, were first spotted dancing closely together at London's Mo*vida nightclub last month. Now pals say their relationship has progressed into a fully fledged romance.

Onlookers say the pair have taken to sending each other saucy text messages during rehearsals for the dance contest.

A Strictly source revealed: "Matt and Alesha's relationship is an open secret among the stars of the show.

They seem really happy together - and the relationship seems to have spurred them on to perform brilliantly.

"Matt's told a few people. But I don't think either of them really wants the romance to become the talking point of the series."

Former Mystique singer Alesha split from her rapper husband MC Harvey last year after catching him in bed with Javine Hylton.

Ex-So Solid Crew idol Harvey and Javine, 25 - his co-star in the West End musical Daddy Cool - are expecting their first child. He and Alesha are divorcing.

Alesha, joint favourite with Kelly Brook to win Strictly, has gone from strength to strength despite her marriage trauma.

She is working on a new solo album and regularly grabs the headlines in the Saturday evening show with dance partner Matthew Cutler.

Alesha refuses to say anything about her former friend Javine. But she has admitted being back on the dating scene. She was linked to London nightclub doorman James Chandler, who recently won a male model contest.

Matt has also been linked with dance partner Flavio and his former Albert Square co-star Louisa Lytton.

A Strictly Come Dancing spokeswoman said of Alesha and Matt: "They get on well."
