Children in Need 2007 [Discussion Topic]

The annual fundraiser show airs 7pm on BBC1 tonight.

Children in Need 2007
BBC1

"Do something different" is the theme of this year's fundraising extravaganza, something the participating celebrities have obviously taken to heart. And so tonight we'll see the cast of EastEnders performing a tribute to the Beatles' Sgt Pepper (not something you usually hear them singing in Albert Square) and the BBC newsreaders donning fishnets to perform their own version of Chicago (it's possible they've worn fishnets before, but not for this musical). With so many celebs prepared to muck in for charity, it should be a thoroughly entertaining show. Among the other highlights is a special episode of Doctor Who and a fabulous sounding sketch in which some of our favourite sitcom stars take over Hotel Babylon. In the main though, the stars are making a song and dance about the evening with performances by the Spice Girls, Kylie Minogue, Annie Lennox and the cast of Joseph, among others. Can the appeal top last year's staggering total of £33 million? BBC Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will opt out at times during the evening with special events.

I stopped reading after the "cast of Eastenders performing" part lol...
Just to ensure nothing is spoiled for me =]

I stopped watching last year, because I was genuinely uninterested.
I think I was busy with something else at the time too, so im staying in tonight to give it one last chance to keep me entertained like it used to.

Otherwise i'll strike it off my "Must watch, annual television" list.
Not that I actually have one >_< but you know.

Cant Wait I Give £30 Every Year

Red Moon 16-11-2007 05:00 PM

I give money to a children's charity every month and have done for many years. Basically it is the money I would waste buy lottery tickets if I did such a thing. Okay I might not win the lottery but I know where my money is going unlike the lottery where some of the charity money is used for things that should be provided by our taxes. Mainly because the government under funds some keys area's in our society which includes vital hospital equipment and some aspects of education.

The problem I have with Children in need is that many of the things they provide should be provided for by the government via our taxes. We live in one of the wealthiest country's in the world and the fact we have children in need is disgusting. It's criminal and the people in power should be brought to account over the matter.

I do give to children in need but what I would like to see is the government match the amount raised tonight to make up for the fact they are failing some of the children in this country.

If I see any member of the Government of what ever party trying to get votes out of children in need tonight I will be writing them a letter giving them a piece of my mind.

Worst opening to Children In Need EVER.
Especially since Andrew Lloyd Webber's face decided to grace our screens.

Ann 16-11-2007 06:09 PM
