Hello sailor! Welsh oddball wows X Factor judges AGAIN with camp Eighties hit
Welsh opera singer Rhydian Roberts wowed the X Factor judges last night as he strutted around the stage in a sailor's outfit, surrounded by male dancers.

The peroxide-haired oddball sang Eighties song Go West, which was originally sung by the Village People.

Louis said the performance was "As camp as Christmas. High camp, the high hair… you remind me of Simon."

But multi-millionaire Cowell, who this week admitted to having botox, hit back and said: "That put a smile on your face, Louis. You're smiling more that you've done in weeks"

And Sharon said: "On my camp richter scare it was definitely at 100. I love camp."

Rhydian, 24, giggled as he joined in, saying it was "Great to perform with so many male dancers".

Meanwhile, Alisha Bennett was given the boot from the show after girl band Hope was saved by the judges. They sung Gimme Gimme Gimme and Sharon had said that they were vocally better than the Spice Girls.

But Simon was quick to pick up on the controversy surrounding the reformed group's comeback show where they mimed.

He said: "You don't hear girl groups singing live on TV today."

Chart-topping group Girls Aloud performed a world exclusive of their new single Call The Shots.

Alisha, a 23-year-old receptionist from London, had performed the disco classic Young Hearts Run Free which Simon described as "a complete and utter mess."

Rhydian is tipped to win the show after Sharon said he could go all the way - despite starting as the rank outsider.

I didnt think that suited him singing that song.Hes best at opera.

MarkWaldorf 18-11-2007 10:53 AM

Wasn't a good performance.

I dont see the attraction in Rhydian. He has great talent but makes every song sound the same.

It's boring

He didn't wow the judges ...

He can only sing in an operatic style. Before people jump on my back for that and say "So, everyone else sings in the same style" I'd like to point out that only Rhydian's style of singing gets brought up, everyone else's is just in retaliation. Singing in an operatic voice is a talent, but he's not proving he's versatile. He shouldn't win the X Factor, it wouldn't be right.

He needs to stop doing the cheesy gimmicks. He is a genuine talent, not a novelty act.

I hope he keeps up with it, he'll end up in the bottom two and it'll give him a kick up the bum for being rubbish. I agree though, Dannii's made a horrific mess of all three of her acts at some point this year.

I've loved every Rhydian performance so far, each week he's done something different, shown how diverse he is. But this weeks wasn't very good, vocally still brilliant, but it was just too overly camp and gimmicky, don't think Dannii chose a good song for him this week.

He won't be in the bottom 2 anytime soon. His fanbase is massive, they'll vote him despite how good or bad his performances are.
