Too much Razzamatazz? Too many gimmicks?

I think X - Factor is becoming to much about the whole spectacle and not enough about the actual singing. Same Difference have come out each with dancers and all sorts. On Saturday Hope were clearly being outsung by the invisible backing singers. Niki seems to be more concerned with getting her dance steps right that singing the song. And, does anyone remember Rhydian fur coat outfit. Why dont they adopt the American Idol format and simply let the acts stand on stage and sing

Totally agree! Some of the best performances have been purely vocal, such as Hope's Back to Black, Niki's Nothing Compares 2 U and Beverley's Feeling Good.

Love the title G
I completely agree. Although I think TXF is more about the judges than the contestants which is stupid considering it's a singing comp.

It's too much about gimmicks and choreography this year. It's clearly not about singing anyway when you look at some of the acts who got to the final 12, and then some of the acts who didn't.

That's a good point.

I agree with Wasted. It should be based on singing ability, so we don't have acts like Same Difference getting into the final twelve. Everything they do is well choreographed and showy, but without that they really don't have very much going for them at all. It's not like not moving around hinders you either, look at Leona Lewis. If you let it be based on singing ability, you have the best singer winning.

XxShortyxX 19-11-2007 04:25 PM

I think they should just let them sing. They don't need some wombles dancing around next to them.

Same Difference?
They didn't dance around at boot camp?

I didn't really watch the boot camp stages, so I'm obviously wrong about that. But still, every single week their performances have been energetic. But without that, they're not very good.

Good point.

sSame difference's vocals are much weaker than some of the other groups who were rejected. There was a three piece boy band that immediately comes to mind. Were they called Ghost? There was that other girl group. What were they called?

GiRTh 19-11-2007 04:45 PM

They were called W4. They were good. Better vocals than Same Difference.:spin2::whistle:

SD's vocals aren't strong enough to give a solid, commanding performance without gimmicks, cheese, dancing, and energy. But maybe they could prove me wrong, but until they do I can only judge on what they've done so far, which isn't good enough to win. Good fun, maybe, but serious recording artists? That's a different matter.

I'm sure the West End will welcome them with open arms once the show's over - they need someone to pull the curtains open for them.

With the theme being Love Songs this week, fortunately it will be more of a subdued affair without the tacky roller skating, juggling, bunny suit clad, hyperactive dancers making a mockery of themselves. At least I hope so (I may be wrong in SD's case).
