Suggested soap schedule changes - your views

The suggested changes:
*Emmerdale 7:30pm
*Eastenders 8pm (on all days)
*Coronation Street 8:30pm (on all days)

That means if Corrie has an hour long, strong swearing, violence and bloodshed would be allowed, meaning it could tackle more meaty storylines than the others (apart from the HO spin-offs :D)

Emmerdales ratings could improve at 7:30

EE wouldnt clash with Emmerdale

Billy 11-12-2007 04:12 PM

Why would Emmerdales improvce by moving it to 7.30?

Magic 11-12-2007 04:13 PM

Kepp it as it is.
Its not doing any harm, so why change it.

Also, many family's like to use the soaps to watch together, so if they made it later, it may not happen (Maybe).

Scarlett. 11-12-2007 04:14 PM

I dunno, its the Corrie spot, more people would be home in time, but Emmerdales Sunday episode needs to be dropped IMO

Callum 11-12-2007 04:17 PM

When were these changes announced?

Scarlett. 11-12-2007 04:20 PM

They havent been officially but they are being suggested according to a website

KKBL 11-12-2007 04:23 PM

this is how i think it should be

Emmerdale Monday-Friday @ 7:30-8:00
Corination Street Monday-Friday @ 8:00-8:30
Eastenders Monday - Friday @ 8:30-9:00
Saturday+Sunday - no soaps.

Aye then ED could go back to 7pm if it wanted an hour special
Corrie could put another episode at 9pm for a second episode (only for special episodes)

EE could be extended beyond 9pm or if in the event of an hour long Corrie it could have a second episode at 9:30

really like it but where is hollyoaks

Scarlett. 12-12-2007 04:14 PM

Hollyoaks isnt going to be moved, where as these ones might be (but Emmerdale would no longer clash with the E4 Hollyoaks if ED was moved

Spike 12-12-2007 04:19 PM

I would move Hollyoaks to 7.00pm because not many Hollyoaks viewers watch Emmerdale so it wouldn't lose any viewers and it probably would gain viewers at a later time.

ITV has commented on the Corrie suggestion saying

Quote:

"We won't comment on any changes until the schedule has been finalised."
Which is proof that the move is being considered

ITV have considered moving it and schedules for the "relaunch" hint that Corrie won't be on at 7.30pm. I do think that it is a good idea to move it to 8.30pm because it will give a good lead in to the 9pm drama and ultimately the News at Ten which is their main focus. It would make a bit more sense to put Emmerdale on at 8pm so there is a soap block and not soap, drama, soap and hour long episodes starting at half past the hour, or if Emmerdale is to move then a random half hour would be worse than the 10pm scenario they currently have.

I think that Sunday's should be free of soaps (bar omnibuses) and the second Monday Corrie scrapped in favour of putting Corrie on Tuesday & Thursday instead of Sunday & Twice Monday.

But I can't see ITV moving Emmerdale up against Eastenders because when both shows are head to head, both shows ratings get dented.

Scarlett. 12-12-2007 10:30 PM

it'd go
C4 Hollyoaks
E4 Hollyoaks
7:30 Emmerdale
8:00 EE
8:30 Corrie, they will probably forget the second Corrie episode
