X Factor winner tipped for chart topspot
Quote:
X Factor winner tipped for chart topspot X Factor' winner Leon Jackson is "practically guaranteed" the Christmas Number One spot in the UK, according to bookmakers.
The 18-year-old singer was the surprise winner of the show last Saturday when he beat favourite Rhydian Roberts in the final showdown.
A spokesperson for HMV said yesterday: "Leon as the winner has to be the overwhelming favourite to get the Christmas Number One."
"You have a very motivated fan base who have been watching 'X Factor'. Millions of people will have voted last night," the spokesperson said.
Nick Weinberg of Ladbrokes said: "We closed our Number One market over two weeks ago. Leon is practically guaranteed top spot. It will be a massive surprise if he doesn't record the festive chart topper."
Rupert Adams of William Hill said: "There was not one three-figure bet on Leon south of the border, but we have more than dozen £1,000+ winners in six Scottish cities, many of whom have already doubled up on Leon having the Christmas Number One."
Leon Jackson's debut single 'When You Believe' will be released this Wednesday.
