I think people give BB8 a hard time, lets face it, it wasn't going to be mind-blowing TV after CBB5. I think people had an impression of what they wanted and when it didn't live up to there expectations they slated it - which isn't BB fault.
Big Brother 8 was, IMO, a good series. It gave us some good housemates in the form of Brian, Charley, Nicky, Gerry, Samanda, Seany, Carole, Chanelle, Ziggy - All who provided good TV with arguments, laughter and much more. We also had some controversy with Emily and a gripping romance. We had a world first and original twist with Fake Week and the all female house was something that was never done before in BB around the world. I think it had a good mix of arguments and laughter. I think like all series it had it's faults - some being the loss of the Saturday HL's, change in the schedule, and the other being too many housemates.
BB8 didn't do disastrous in the ratings, as some people may have you believe. The series average is around 3.7 million, which is good seeing as BB8 did have a lot competition over the summer, with Britain's Got Talent, The Apprentice, Match of the Day Live.
For me, the best part of BB8 was that for once in the long time we had a unpredictable BB. It was weeks and weeks before people had a good idea of who would win (Amanda & Sam) and even then it proved wrong when Brian won the series. In BB7, it was obvious who would be evicted every single week - but it wasn't like that in BB8. I mean, Charley is an example - every week people thought she would be nominated but she manged to avoid nominated for five weeks.

Again you had to bring 7 into discussion, just take those obvious winner away and HND fiasco, 7 had provided with many memorable moments, had some best characters ever, a lot of Diary room moments, 8 just had none of them.

I brought BB7 into it to show just how unpredictable BB8 was, and to prove a point. BB7 was the most predictable of all BB's, and it ruined the series from Day 1. Even if you take away those things you mentioned - it was still so predictable. Everyone could tell who would be evicted every Friday, and it was even pretty even to guess who would be nominated. I think compared to other series - BB7 didn't have many memorable moments, even now I can;t think of much other then one or two of Nikki's DR rants. I don't think it had "some of the best characters ever" - Nikki maybe, and possible Glyn, but Pete, Imogen, Mikey, Michael, Dawn, Bonnie, George, Susie - what did they bring to the house? Nothing - and some of them were in there for 12 weeks.
Anyway - back onto BB8. I think it is very underrated and I think maybe, kinda like BB6, people will look back on it and realise just how good it was.

This title doesn't talk about 7, and I think 7 was a lot better than Eastenders and other shows that year, please pick one moment of 8 you could think of. My point was take away the HND fiasco and returnee HM fiasco, then 7 overrall had quite a lot of good moments and rants.

This topic is about BB8, and I brought up BB7 to prove a point about BB8.
Anyway, I could think of many moments of BB8 - Brian's rants, Brian & Charley argument, Seany pushing Charley into pool, Lesley and the duvet, Samanda DR, Emily's ejection, BB Birthday, Chanelle Vs Charley, Shanessa thinking Ziggy liked her, Carole Vs Amy/Nicky/Chanelle, BBAU phone-call - just small collection of some of my favorites.
You can't just take away main big parts of a series and say "it was amazing" because, they were part of that series. They make up good/bad parts of it.

To me 8 was mimicking past contestants, nothing original, nothing unique, the only unique ones in there were Samanda who were totally being themselves. My point is even if the producers messed it up in 7 but it is the actual performances of each HM made it a great series, all were unique and different from previous HM, 7 had originality as ith characters as well.
