are you worried about your daily salt intake

I say this as I am munching on a packet of Walkers crisps and was looking at the back of the packet.

it says 'SODIUM* 0.2g PER 25g PACK' and '*EQUIVALENT AS SALT 0.4g PER 25g PACK'

Salt is 'sodium chloride' so why separate the two on the back of each packet, the mind boggles :eureka: well mine does.

Btw, it says that our recommended daily intake of salt is 6g for MEN and 6g for WOMEN and 4g for CHILDREN 5 - 10 YEARS OLD. When I have chips which is quite often I tend to put loads on, big mistake you think? Im only 20 so perhaps its not so bad as someone who is elderly

MarkWaldorf 03-02-2008 09:54 PM

I'm starting to. I always just looked at how much fat products contained, I never really worried about salt. Then I watched that Jamie Oliver show...changed my life.

To be fair, I only do that when I'm eating crap, and Sunday dinners which is half and half, but more pepper than salt with gravy. I tend to eat healthily most of the time so its not really a problem

Its just bad for your heart and I think your liver to. But to die young and stay pretty is what some think like today. Plus plenty of foul play of course

I do kinda worry but then realise how boring most other foods taste without salt.

Ashleee:) 03-02-2008 11:29 PM

i dont put salt on anything, everyone thinks its weird! to me there's nothing worse than food covered in salt lol

Lauren 04-02-2008 01:02 AM

I feel sick reading this thread! I hate salt on foods!

Captain.Remy 04-02-2008 05:40 AM

I really don't mind, I will care when I will be a 60 y-o old man lol

Ann 04-02-2008 10:37 AM

Well With Me I Only Use A Pinch Of Salt In My Potatoes and Vegetables When I'm Cooking Otherwise I Hate It

Dr43%er 04-02-2008 11:48 AM

I used to smother my food in salt. I now only use it when cooking. I don't add it at the table. With pepper i am the other way round. I used to hate it. Now I can't get enough.

Jackie 04-02-2008 11:50 AM

Im not too worried i don't eat many crisps and i don't add salt to my dinners or chips.
