Poem Thread

I heard someone on the forum say they write poetry, so why not add some yourself? Or maybe just talk about poems you have read, and reccomend!

Coldness

As cold as snow,
That Face looks at me,
Digging around, in the pit

of my heart.
A heart that hasn't loved,
hasn't laughed,
but has only felt hatred.

Where does a flowing river
stop?
When does the pain, agony and emotional turmoil end?

I close my eye's, but the silence get's lounder.
Images flash through my mind, yet they are uncomplete.
The past is not made. Its not firm. Its not safe.

As cold as snow,
That Face looks at me,
My father glares.

God knows what its about, i made it up as I went along!

Not exactly a poem, but something I sometimes say

When the first snows of summer fall lightly upon the plain of Death Valley

Thats clever!

This one was on my mind recently

Quote:

Do Not Stand
Bombardier Stephen Cummings
32 Heavy Regiment Royal Artillery

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there.
I did not die.

More about the above poem

Another little poetic saying for when you are given a task that ought to have a real low priority compared to everything else.

I'll attend to that when I return from my skiing holiday on the snowy plains of Gehenna

I made a bit of a cheesy poem for my mum on mothers day, its not as good as others but she appreciated it so ill type it up:

Mum

Mum, you do everything for me
Im very grateful although its hard to see,
When i was younger you changed my nappy
You kept me safe and you made me happy.

You gave me an education and i thankyou for that
Without you who knows where id be at?
And as i got older you spoilt me,
You gave me everything a girl could ever dream.

Mum we may argue from time to time,
Ill say its you're fault and you'll say its mine
But at the end of the day, well be ok
Because you are my mum and that wont ever change.

Mum, now that im older its time for you,
To stop worrying about the things you think you have to do
The things we take for granted:
The cleaning, cooking and ironing!
We thankyou for that me, nan, dad, the dog and the cat.

And.. one last thing before i go, I dont say it alot but i reckon you know
I love you so much with all my heart
Have a lovley Mothers Day right from the start.

Lol x

Anyone else got any poems etc?
And would anyone be interested in taking part in a short story competition?

10/10 christina, better than one I could write. I especially like this part:

Im very grateful although its hard to see,
When i was younger you changed my nappy

This was my first ever poem that I wrote about 9 years ago!

(excuse how terrible it is, I have progressed since then)

But it has served me well, and was the springboard for a lot of the paths my life has now taken.

Those Ladies Did Weep:

Crying when their sons left,
those ladies did weep,
like roaming rivers
in valleys deep.

Goodbye to goodbyes and
they dried their eyes,
those ladies had to on
with their lives.

Back to the broom and dusty room,
those ladies did sweep.
Their sons memories
they could no longer keep.

Dreaming of dreaming
they lay down their heads,
those ladies closed
their eyes so red.

Crying when their sons left
those ladies did weep,
for they knew their sons
were destined for eternal sleep.

[/i]LOVE[/i]

I saw her walking
Walking, talking
Catwalk model, beautiful like summer
I pondered...pondered my luck
My luck said I shall have no ****
But love, love, love
Love is what I was due
So I took my knife, where's my ether?
Oh, here it is, phew...
Approached her in the dark
In a cold and lonely park
Grabbed her with my loving hand
Her hair, her hair...t'was like sand...
Blonde and fluffy
I wanted her muffy
Crept and snuck
Like a sneaky snake
Her virginity
Is what I'd take
She tuned toward me
But t'was too late
That was the meeting
Of me
And Kate.
