Updating my internet

:wavey:

I don't know what internet mine is, what number is it but it's the same one from when I got my computer xmas 2004.

Anyway, I want to update it because it seems to run slow, not really slow but sometimes just generally annoyingly slow, I have an updated internet on the laptop and that's fine, it goes pretty quick.

So, how do I update it? Does it cost? Any links?

Update your browser you mean? Like downlaoding modzilla firefox?

No, I don't want firefox. You know your internet is like Internet 5.5 or whatever, I want to update mine, I'm just not sure what mine actually is though I've had it for over 3 years or how to update it.

Here's a link to the Microsoft Internet Explorer site where you can download an update: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...e/default.mspx

Update NOW! I have IE 5.5 - it's terrible!

I use Firefox though - it's THE best browser. If you want to try and make the jump you can download it from http://www.firefox.com

I tried Firefox, its rubbish compared to IE7

I find Firefox annoying and awful.

Imo IE7 is the best browser.

Firefox is good in bad situations, for example if you were filling out a form on a website and all of a sudden the power went in your house and the PC turns of and you forgot the name of the website when you finally get the power back and turn on your pc and click the icon to start firfox up it will say start new session or restart the old one.

Absolutely not.

Internet Explorer is the worst browser in existence, simply for its refusal to conform to web standards. As a person who codes many a website layout, I know how frustrating Internet Explorer can be.

As well as that, tests using the VeriTest iBench browser benchmarks have shown that Firefox 2 loads pages 1.3 times quicker than Internet Explorer.

I like Firefox for its web standards compatibility, but also because it is extremely customisable. You can change the look (theme) of it, and thanks to little add-ons called 'extensions' you can add completely new features to it.

And as PJ just said, it's handy "remember-which-pages-you've-visited" feature is cool too

I'm another Firefox hater, after using Internet Explorer for such a long time, Firefox is the internet's version of a piece of ****. Although, I do like the Windows version of Apple's Safari browser.

I love Firefox. For those who haven't done the thing to make it even faster (yes, thats possible!) click this link and follow the instructions.

A little hint for setting it up, when you put about:config in, a bar will come up just below the grey part (where the top of the webpage would be) and copy and paste the terms you need to find in there so you dont have to root through  If one is missing (which I think it is) then just leave it, it doesnt matter.
