Finally. I liked their second album as well as Dummy. So thats three albums in 12 years. They're hardly prolific are they?

who?
|
Portishead. Its a town in Bristol and also the name of a pioneering band from the mid-nineties.
Check out their first album Dummy. Its a classic. |

Edith Bowman described "Dummy" yesterday as an album everyone should have in their collection. I agree.

I think the album comes out the day before GTA4 is released. It's going to be like Christmas.

Posted, Portishead were part of the Trip Hop scene along with Massive Attack and Tricky. It centred around the Bristol area before exploding around the world. it is perfect for kicking back to and relaxing.

Their first album (Dummy) has to be one of the best produced albums of all time but, it never sounds over produced. The only track I'm not keen on is it's a fire. I love all the rest. In particular Sour Times, Numb, Glory Box, Roads, it could be sweet and my obscure fave Biscuit. I love that track. It samples a Tommy Steele song from the fifties.
Glory Box Numb - Some will recognise that this music was used to promote the first season of Lost on Ch4. Roads Biscuit - My obscure fave. I love this tune. Great sample and great scratch. |
Oh, I have to get it out now and play it!

Thanks. I will take a look in a bit. Need to get some lunch.

What do you think of "Hunter" G?

|
I haven't heard it. I'll give it a listen.
EDIT: Just heard it for the first time. They're music is getting more and more percussive. I like it. |
It's good isn't it?
|
Aye. It is.
|
Have held off from listening to the tracks until I could get my grubby hands on the CD and play it on a proper system. I shall have a blast of it later today.
|
Can't wait to hear it. Let us know what you think.
