My Idea For A BB Spin-Off

Basically it is just cameras filming a high street for 7 days and seeing what happens.

- the show would be call Big Brother: The High street
- There will be no big brother speaking, no winner and no housemates just random people who have chosen to walk down the street
- The host will just be Marcus narrating
- It is meant to be extremely light viewing
- There would be a 5 minute show after the 7 O'clock news and at 10 every day on channel4
- And on E4 there would be a half an hour show every day
- There would be live streaming from the street on E4
- this would only be the first series and from then on Brother would move to other place such as, Big Brother: The Zoo, Big Brother: The Ward, Big Brother: The School, Big Brother: The Prison or Big Brother: The Bus

so what do you think

GiRTh 07-04-2008 01:47 PM

Its a good idea but it will fall apart when people realise they're being filmed.

Conor 07-04-2008 01:49 PM

Errm. I think that would be really boring and perverted.

I don't see the concept in wanting to watch people you'll probably only see that once and it would be 99% chance there would be no fighting or bitching.

_Max_ 07-04-2008 01:51 PM

it would give a good reflection of britian and is what big brother is supposed to be.

i think it would be really funny watching people falling out of clubs LIVE

_Max_ 07-04-2008 05:48 PM

Anymore views on my ideas

Hugo 07-04-2008 05:51 PM

Would be ok but would never be aloud and if it was people (Chavs) would just smash cameras and do stupid stuff on purpose.

Wildcat! 07-04-2008 07:48 PM

Thats a bit voyeuristic, and invasion of privacy!

Spike 07-04-2008 07:51 PM

I don't like the idea, it wouldn't be entertaining and pointless to watch.

xDramatick 07-04-2008 07:54 PM

Personally.
It sounds like a lame way of invading people's privacy.

Stu 07-04-2008 07:55 PM

Cant you get this sort of thing in hundreds of other crime shows? And what could possibly happen on a street that would get 3,000,000 people a night watching , let alone 100,000? And wheres the competition format? And how in ANY way does it relate to Big Brother save for their being cameras?

And most of all...

...why cant I just stand on the street and watch this?

Agreed.

It's enough that the government invade our privacy.

_Max_ 07-04-2008 08:03 PM

Can i just note that everything people are saying above is what people said about Big Brother before it start

- Its boring watching people live in a house
- Its and invasion of people peoples privacy
- Its just pointless
- Nobody will watch
- And so on

Or you could have more fun by being one of the people falling out of a club.

On a high street is usually shops anyway so it would be quite dead at night and just people walking past with bags.

It sounds like a rubbish idea, and a real invasion of privacy. It would be pointless to have it under the Big Brother brand because that would have lost all touch with Big Brother in the first place.

Well they would pick a high street that was suitable

The whole point of Big Brother in the first place was to watch people not to be the controller of a game show. The show would take the brand back to the core of what it is and that is watching people

The thing is, Big Brother is not really an invasion of privacy - housemates agree to appear on the show and sign contracts stating this. If there was to be a show like this keeping an eye on random members of the public, without their permission, it would be an invasion of privacy...

That would never be allowed anyway

the member of the public have to know they are being film

they would just be notify before walking down the street that they were being film and could either film or be censored out or take another route its there chose

Captain.Remy 07-04-2008 08:18 PM

The idea is not bad but if there is no interaction with them it would not work. And I'm not sure most of them will agree.
But I like Big Brother: The Zoo, sounds kinda exotic.

No, you've missed the point. Its watching a select group of strangers and seeing how they interact with eachother in a confined space with no contact with the outside world. Its a social experiment and a concept which your ideas go completely against. Theres also no reason why people couldn't go out and observe these everyday situations for themselves. It hardly makes compelling viewing.

_Max_ 07-04-2008 08:29 PM

This program is just supposed to be cheap TV that will get a few viewers that wouldn't usually watch big brother hook in the run up to a new series

Tom 07-04-2008 08:30 PM

I'd be very surprised if more then 1 viewer tuned in to see people walk past a camera without doing anything.

24 hours rolled in to 5 minutes can be very entertaining

and a lot of people would watch because it is straight after the news

Tom 07-04-2008 08:36 PM

Channel 4 News gets low ratings. It can be counted in hundreds of thousands.

I still fail to see why people walking past a camera would be entertaining. There are webcams of city centres set up on the internet. Might as well watch one of them instead.

Jack 07-04-2008 08:36 PM

I think it would work more as an item on BBLB or some other sister show. I can imagine it being like the hidden camera in BB6 and 7 where they speed up the week (or day in this case). I don't think it would work as a stand alone show, even if it was just a 5 minute jobby. Good idea though, and it defines what the concept of Big Brother really is. Although I'm not sure if you'd be allow to film people in this sort of context without their permission.

It has zero potential. Theirs no format to keep people watching. No controlled environment. No one distinct group of people walking up and down the street that will keep people tuning in. No competition format. Wheres the hook? Why would people watch? And dont use the experiment excuse as a format. Yes , Big Brother started out as an experiment , but it was still in a special house , with 12 special housemates , with a format , and evictions.

Its a rubbish idea. It would not work ... ever.
