While I had little, actually make that zero, sympathy for PETE DOHERTY when he was finally jailed I thought some of his pals might.

But it appears even they are not bothered about him being banged up for drug offences.

Pete’s current squeeze IRINA LAZAREANU tried to contact his ex KATE MOSS on Tuesday to inform her he’d been handed a 14-week stint.

Irina — Kate’s pal who Pete recently rekindled a fling with — and her mates left messages to break the news to the supermodel, but she didn’t reply.

They then tried to contact her through a friend, and were told: “She knows. She’s seen it on TV.

“She doesn’t care.”

I reckon Pete will be crying into his latest incoherent journal in his cell at London’s Wormwood Scrubs prison when he hears that.

He has always held a flame for the supermodel. But Kate — who yesterday left Los Angeles after a two-week holiday — seems to have finally kicked the junkie for good.

Though surely he could rely on his new famous friend AMY WINEHOUSE to shed a few tears. Or so he thought.

When Wino was told the news by a pal she, erm, chortled.

A pal revealed: “Amy’s first reaction when she heard was to laugh.

“Pete had told everyone he was just going to court for a quick appearance and had no idea he was going to jail.

“She just laughed and kept saying, ‘I can’t believe it’. Pete’s just a comedy character to Amy. She thinks he’s a bit of a clown.”

Such a rare moment of clarity from Wino.

So with Kate not caring and Amy laughing, Pete might have expected some support from his loyal fans.

But not so. They are furious Pete’s jail term means he has cancelled the biggest gig of his life, at the Royal Albert Hall on April 26.

One wrote on a fan site: “How could Pete be so selfish as to let down hundreds of people? *******ing fuming. Pete Doherty is a ....” — you get the picture.

And he’s got some furious promoters after his drug-tainted blood too.

He was due to act as a SIMON COWELL-style judge at the GoBusker.com UK Battle Of The Bands in East London later this month — and Pete getting banged up has left them £70,000 out of pocket.

On top of that he’s already rubbing his fellow lags up the wrong way.

Pete did not go to the tough induction wing with other prisoners but was whisked straight to the cushy drug rehabilitation wing at The Scrubs.

And he will not have to share a cell in the unit, which is fitted out with Ikea sofas and a fish tank.

At this rate even his crack-smoking cats will have found another dealer by the time he gets out.
