Constructive Posts

I've noticed the amount of posts which are using just one or two word replies or just a smilie have increased.

Really, what's the point in posting a reply if it's not going to be constructive for the forum? Posts with just one or two answers don't really give anything to the forum and may as well not have been posted.

I thought this should be brought to people's attention in the run up to Big Brother 9 as I understand that a) Admins and mod's don't like it and b) If it didn't happen then the forum would be much more interesting.

Moan over.

MrGaryy 26-04-2008 04:53 PM

Yeah I see what you mean there are a couple of users in particular I've noticed doing this!

Stu 26-04-2008 04:54 PM

I have to disagree to a certain extent. Its not quantity , its quality. Who cares if someone replies with a post that simply says 'Thats funny' or 'Lol'? I think we have better things to be worrying about. Just another example of people taking this forum too seriously.

Theirs some posts that go on for hundreds of words , each one as full of **** as the last. Pick on them instead I say.

Then theirs the basic question thread , with members not knowing , so they just reply 'No' or something. Now THATS annoying. Why bother letting us all know you dont know something? Its idiotic. Nothing but a badly disguised attempt at post whoring.

The "Yes" and "No" thing was the bit I was thinking about when I was writing this thread. I don't mind the "That's funny" or something similar to that.

Theres a certain member who constantly posts irelivant videos and pictures in threads and posts things like' nope, sorry' and 'no' to advice/questions as well as many other posts that don't move anything on and/or are funny.

I see what you mean then. And completely agree. Or , in a few lesser words...

'Yes' :joker:

I have a feeling that admins/mods just associate one word posts as a bid to increase post counts.
If you are a one word poster, then unless you're going to post something constructive then please don't bother posting at all as it's annoying..

Billy 26-04-2008 05:07 PM

Lol Matt you do make me laugh

I think we all know who we are talking about in this thread. One of TiBB's most "extreme" posters as they put it.

Yeah. In fact , I think its so obvious at this point , some people may want to edit their posts to make it less obvious before said member turns this debate into another thread about himself.

I couldnt help myself. It had to be done. I didnt want to be the one to do it - but I was. I feel dirty now. I feel disgusted in myself.

If you dont mind, I'm gonna go scrub myself with sandpaper.

Bad, Arneldo!

Oh dont be so childish. Matt is making a fair argument .

Sometimes it's irrelevant and uncomfortable to read. However, with one smiley or one word, you can be easily understood but since it's a forum, we do not expect someone to post one word as an answer. I don't see how you can share your views by one word, just give arguments, try to debate.

But I still think when you have a funny video, I can't see how you can write 5 lines about it or can say much that 'lol it's funny'.

MR.K! 26-04-2008 08:17 PM

i have to disagree. i only like to read short, quick posts, and i often cant be bothered reading someones post that goes on for half a forum page. id rather read something that's relevant and quick than longwinded and tiering.

okay i see your point. if its an opinion poll and someone answers 'no' then its pointless without a reason.

Its a forum, dont take it too seriously

AngRemembered 22-06-2008 03:22 PM

I can understand the frustration but can't see any easy solution, its just a fact of life sometimes one word is the best answer.
Indeed sometimes ... you say it best when you say nothing at all

Now that could be made into a song title hmmmmm i wonder.

Scarlett. 22-06-2008 03:26 PM

LOL!
Sometimes you are having a conversation in a thread, and its rude not to reply, but you cant think of a proper response, so you just put a smiley or summat

Although if its a thread like

"Isnt Bob a fool" and you write an essay on it
and someone replys with
":dog:" then ye can get annoyed

Ashleee:) 22-06-2008 03:27 PM

It doesnt really bother me to be honest, i think everyone should have their say whether it is a one word post or a 500 word post.
