Do you get cold sores?

I do and they're the worst thing ever! Damn my ex boyfriend for kissing me with an active cold sore. "It's just a cut, not a cold sore" - suuuuure.

Haha cheers. :)

I'd never get away with passing mine off as cuts. I'm just lucky I'm off work this week and don't have to serve anybody haha. Might get complaints about the huge scabby demon on my bottom lip.

Loukas 29-06-2008 10:12 PM

lol.

My friends hate cold sores, when they see someone with one they think they have the plague or something!! :laugh2:

Ross 29-06-2008 10:13 PM

I always get them, I don't know how or where from.

Killian 29-06-2008 10:13 PM

A friend of mine thought they had something to do with sexually transmitted diseases. They don't, do they?

I read on the internet that a lot of folk contract the virus from kissing older relatives in childhood.

No, they don't. It's not an STD.

It is spread by the HSV-1 virus which can be transferred through oral sex to genitals, where the HSV-2 virus can cause genital herpes.

What people don't understand is that genital herpes and genital warts are different - it's genital warts that is the STD, caused by HPV virus.

Don't curse it! Around 80% of people have the virus, many of those having never even had a cold sore, the virus remaining in it's 'sleeping' state.

However, it can strike at any time! As I too well know.

Which cream do you use? I never ever ever know what to use.

I heard putting mouthwash and then toothpaste on it overnight helps, but there's something not right about rubbing aquafresh on my lips LOL.

Zovirax or the pharmacy's own branded equivalent - as long as it has the active ingredient Aciclovir (I used to work in a chemist).
