Does everyone like the look of this film!?

Repo! The Genetic Opera... Coming Soon..

MarkWaldorf 06-07-2008 08:42 PM

I've been waiting for this for sooooooooooooooooooo long.

Tom4784 09-07-2008 02:53 PM

I love the looks of this film soooo much! I can't wait for it. I did a thread about it a while ago but it kinda bombed!

Apparently it's got great reviews from advanced screenings and such, I wonder when it's coming out?

MarkWaldorf 09-07-2008 02:55 PM

It's getting a limited US release in November.

Tom4784 12-07-2008 06:40 PM

So I'm guessing at a DVD release in the first half of next year then here.

MarkWaldorf 12-07-2008 06:41 PM

Yeah, probably. IF they decide to release it here at all.
With Anthony Head being British an all, I think they may.

xDramatick 12-07-2008 06:44 PM

It looks so good.
Absolutely can't wait!

rayheartbliss 12-07-2008 06:47 PM

It'll have a good chance, with Sweeney Todd doing well here which is a similar style maccabre musical It'll be released I think.

I can't believe Paris Hilton is in this!

Tom4784 17-07-2008 07:47 PM

Even more shockingly, from the reviews i've read she isn't that bad in it either.

Chrizzle 28-07-2008 12:04 AM

Anyone seen the new video of Paris singing one of her parts? Shes wicked. Movie looks great.

Tom4784 28-07-2008 12:40 AM

Oooh where's that clip? I wanna see.

Tom4784 10-01-2009 09:22 PM

I saw this at the cinemas on a mystery movie slot, I was so happy when i found out it was this as i've wanted to watch it for ages. It's a great and bizarre film, It forgoes many film conventions and structures as most of the film serves as build up to the climax. The cast is excellent and the best is Antony Stewart Head (Giles from Buffy), Paris Hilton doesn't feature much but she plays her role amicably Paris haters will love one particular scene which shows Paris....losing face...somewhat. It's quite gory so if your not one for gore then it might not be for you.

It's basically all sung so if you don't like musicals back away from this one. Not everyone will like it but I thought it was great.

MarkWaldorf 10-01-2009 09:31 PM

Wow, you saw it?!

Yeah I was so shocked when it came on!

I'm definately getting the dvd when it comes out (March). If you want to watch it I'd reccomend looking at independant cinemas or possibly movie mystery showings. A great film though, not for everyone though.

MarkWaldorf 10-01-2009 09:35 PM

Yeah I'll probably wait for the DVD. That's really lucky how you caught it, you've been waiting ages.

I've listened to the soundtrack and surprisingly I liked most of the songs. Shame about Paris though, I was looking forward to seeing her throughout. Anthony Head is brilliant though so that should make up for it.

She is actually good at the role but then again she's been cast as a rich girl who's dad owns a multi billion dollar business.... :joker: Apparently a few of her scenes and her song had to be cut out and will be included on the dvd.

The songs are fantastically catchy though I enjoyed Antony Head's songs the most as he's fantastic in it.

LOL

Poor Paris! That's alright then, even better reason to wait. Ahh, I hope so! I had the Opera song on repeat all of last summer, brilliant song.

At the Opera Tonight?

If so it's a fantastic song, one of the best in the film. Such a dramatic song!

MarkWaldorf 10-01-2009 09:54 PM

Yeah that one! I was going to write "Welcome to the Opera" but didn't want to sound stupid if it was wrong lmao!

You'd love it I think, it's brilliant but not in a conventional sense. It's technically flawed beyond belief but I did love it.
