Online Relationships

Just thinking, do you think online relationships can work? Can love be found online? I know for two forum members it has here, but for me I think I would find it hard.

So, what are your views?

Billy 06-07-2008 10:54 PM

Na doubt it.

AlexBigBrother 06-07-2008 10:54 PM

i love myself!

but everyone knows that anyways

Killian 06-07-2008 10:55 PM

It's total coincidence. I myself would feel a bit awkward meeting somebody in real life who I'd met online.

Lauren 06-07-2008 10:57 PM

I met one of my now best friends online, and he may be living in my flat come September. (To verify, it's because he has an offer at my University and they may put us in student accommodation together).

I also spoke to 4 of my flatmates a few months before we moved in together online, and it was fine.

In theory, I met my bf online too - we both had offers to Lancaster University and so joined a group called "Lancaster Applicants 08" on Facebook. We started speaking to each other a lot, and then when we finally got to Uni we met up.

I'm skeptical on the whole finding love online thing but I have friends that have and they seem to have solid relationships there.

I have though made close friends with other people I've met first online, even finding a job through one person and being sent to some lovely places around the world.

I think what should happen is that you meet people, and become friends and then develop a friendship. I have met a tonne of people on the internet and even got in a relationship with one. I think having a relationship only online though is just a bit weird.
And not having a physical relationship but just talking online is not normal.

Loukas 06-07-2008 11:14 PM

Look at Red Moon and Bubbles they have a solid relationship that have a daughter together. There a great couple. In time i wanna meet up with some members on TiBB, might be meeting up with some this summer as a matter of fact! :)

do you think we should have a TiBB party?
like the wrap up party?
but then again, the ages would range so greatly it could be quite awkward...

It probably only works for certain people if you're patient and you can 'hold out' so to speak.

Personally I'd never be able to but I can speak to people online

Yeah. I think if you wanna meet with people disscuss it amongst yourselves. Like on msn.

I think the Internet can be a good place to meet new people and start a relationship, although I personally haven't done it. It's just difficult to sustain online. I have a couple of friends who met people online, and now obviously meet up with them offline and are in solid relationships, so it was a good starting point. And whether or not it works for people varies from person to person. However, I don't think it should be ruled out.

Arneldo 06-07-2008 11:42 PM

Em, I have no problems with it but I don't think I'd ever do it. It's obviously works for some people.

AlexBigBrother 06-07-2008 11:43 PM

in my opinion online relationships are created by people who lack confidence enough to speak to the opposite sex in real life

Rocko 06-07-2008 11:44 PM

I just reread the first post.

I think yeah, love can be FOUND online, but it cannot be exclusively online. Well maybe it can but I cannot fathom how that would work.

AlexBigBrother 06-07-2008 11:46 PM

it proper pisses me off on forums, when u get people going..
"you're amazing ______"
" i love u _____"

u dont ****ing know these people, youve never seen them, stop acting up and pretending you love them
proper annoys me, just think, if they walked up to you in the street would you say all that

Christina 06-07-2008 11:46 PM

I think it depends on who the two people are. I myself would never have a relationship over the internet  x

But isn't that just horsing around? Unless they say it in sincerest admiration and protesting their love online, I've always thought it was just said in a light hearted manner.

Love you AlexBigBrother :tongue::rolleyes:

I think for some ppl, sadly, the only love life thay could have is one online! I remember when msn chat was still open and i had a lot of ppl on my msn mess list that i had never met and a few ppl on there had 'online' g/fs & b/fs and had never met? i dont get it personally but i can see how ppl can get sucked into the internet world

Mrluvaluva 07-07-2008 02:20 PM

I suppose it could be the starting point to one.
From chatting on the net, it could lead to phone calls.
Then an actual meet in person.

The internet could be and is a first meeting place for many.
