Text talk.

What is your opinion on it? Personally, I can't stand it. I hate having to look through my IMs or text messages and not being able to understand it. At this point I can't even tell the different between exclamation marks and the number one on my phone. It's ridiculous.

Lauren 06-07-2008 11:25 PM

I type my texts in full English, LOL. Seriously.

Only thing I do is sometimes use "lol"

Axiom 06-07-2008 11:25 PM

i h 8 it 2

MarkWaldorf 06-07-2008 11:27 PM

ino its annoyin init. i h8 it 2222.

JOKE.
I find it annoying too.

KKBL 06-07-2008 11:28 PM

i hate it on MSN & forums.but i dont mind it in texts except when people say loik instead of lyk or like or okaiii instead of ok

Spike 06-07-2008 11:29 PM

I hate it, so annoying
but I do use it if I am a bad mood or really frustrated because I can't be bothered to use proper English

Rocko 06-07-2008 11:29 PM

Here or there, I'm ok with that, but anyone willing to write a whole block of text in txt tlk doesn't deserve to use a keyboard. Go back to your phone love.

I personally don't even text in txt tlk unless I running near my credit limit. I type and text much faster that way and prevents any more (I've had a few) misunderstandings over certain abbreviations.

I can never understand why people use it on forums. It's not like you've got a limit on the amount of words that you can post and it just looks really messy and devalues your opinion, in my view.I can barely be bothered to try and decipher what it's actually meant to say, let alone bothering to reply to it.

I agree. Makes whoever that uses it look and sound chavvish.

I think its the 'right' thing to do until you're about 12 then its time to grow up and get a grip. I don't use text talk in any way anymore, I use predictive text on my phone so it all comes out in full English. I'll do the odd word like "u" but I won't do anything like "il c u l8r on".

Same!

Fom 06-07-2008 11:50 PM

I cant use it, im seriously like a 40 year old in an 18 year olds body, im so behind on slang its ridiculous. I use 'lol' and 'tbh' I can use abbreviations but I dont use shortened words... i just dont get it. Something that really annoys me is when people change about words and put Z's in, its like... you are using the exact same amount of letters as the actual word, why dont you just use the actual word?

Anyone who doesnt talk in full sentences and full words doesnt deserve my attention. I even use full punctuation in texts and everything haha, no wonder it takes me forever.

 Oh don't get me started on that. I'm not really a grammar/spelling nazi, but it completely irritates me when people write sentences in phonetic ghetto speech.

Wuzzup dere, iz ya h0m3boi, h0w be y0u?

Firewire 07-07-2008 11:08 AM

I use full english in texts, MSN, forums etc. The only text speech I use is lol, lmao, omg.

AyeAye-xO 08-07-2008 08:09 AM

Sometimes i Use It And i Do Use Some Shortened Versions But Only Really On Msn And Bebo :)

melanie 08-07-2008 08:33 AM

When you've got time to reply theres no need for text speak. I think its okay if its readable for your text messaging or instant messaging someone but only things like lol, brb and omg. I hate stuff like
Frnds = Friends
gd = Good

katie_x 08-07-2008 02:16 PM

I admit i do in texts but hardly ever in forums, unless i forget where i am. the only thing i'm guilty of is bad use of caps. i'm to lazy and normally just forget to use them

AngRemembered 08-07-2008 02:24 PM

Add me to the list of people who cant understand it too, even the basics, my sister and daughter translate some the others i send them a simple template message back which reads.

"What the ****** you on about"
Ive found this also sends some sort of network signal to the other phone which diasbles the use of texts again coming back, as I'm yet to get a reply from one of them:whistle::joker:

Spot on, couldnt agree more

stacey 09-07-2008 06:37 PM

On msn I use it sometimes but not really badly to the point where nobody can understand it, I only use it in texts when i'm running out of the word amount and i'm going to go into two texts haha so that way is just me being a tightar*e really

Dizzy 09-07-2008 06:44 PM

I hate it, I very rarely use it, the only words I use are ''Lol'' and ''Ftw'' but I hate reading e-mails and texts and seeing a load of ramble rubbish that I can't understand, its probably one of the main reasons I don't really use MSN because people are always using it and I'll always have to ask what the hell some of it means xP
