Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda may have flown the nest to live in London but their hearts are still in North Staffordshire.

The pair have not been fazed by the limelight and they returned to Newcastle yesterday for a manicure at a new salon, Be Nails & Beauty.

Having just jetted back from a holiday in Magaluf where they celebrated their 20th birthdays, they are still catching up on this year's BB show.

Twelve months after their rapid rise to fame, they are counting their lucky stars they are not in the current version.

Amanda said: "It's a strange feeling watching this year's Big Brother because I understand exactly what they are going through.

"They are arguing a lot and I'm so glad I'm not in there this year.

"The only person we really like is Rachel because she seems to be being true to herself."

Since they shot to stardom the twins have released a single, their own perfume, Samanda, and a skin care range for teens.

They moved to London three months ago and bought their own two-bedroom flat in Kensal Green for £545,000.

The duo are now pursuing careers as models as well as making public appearances.

Social networking site Hello Kitty has signed them as the faces and online bloggers for the brand and they have just shot their portfolios with international model agency Select.

Amanda said: "The highlight of the year since BB has been meeting Paris Hilton, right.

"She was at a nightclub promo event we were at recently and she is lovely. That's the best thing about our experience on Big Brother. If we hadn't have done it, we would never met people like that.

"We've also met Girls Aloud and they are petite and skinny and lovely, like little dolls."

Sam said: "My favourite thing since the show has been going to the Clothes Show where we met Jesse Metcalfe, the gardener in Channel 4's Desperate Housewives. He is just gorge.

"London life is totally different for us. Sometimes we bump into Liam, Ziggy and Brian from BB because they are often at the same parties as we are.

"It's fun going to parties but it's not like going out around Stoke-on-Trent.

"We're always straight back here as soon as we have any time off."

The girls' favourite nightspots in Stoke-on-Trent are Aruba and The Sugarmill in Hanley.

Sam is still with long-term boyfriend Rich, while Amanda, who dated Big Brother winner Brian after the show, is now single.

She said: "I'm glad Brian and I didn't have a relationship in the house.

"There are so many problems with people judging you for being a couple.

"Brian and I are good friends but I am looking for a new man."

Be Nails & Beauty owner Jean Barber, aged 46, was thrilled to welcome her most famous customers. She said: "The twins are best friends with my daughter Nicola and it's great to have them in the shop."
