Sorry i posted something wrong? So what do you think?
|
I's not up for a while yet in the UK, but if they can carry on with shows like BB9 I can't see why they wouldn't carry on making them.
My only concern is it might lose it's Channel 4 slot and move to E4, but with everyone going digital I can't see that being a big issue. |
I hope they do cos i love it! Last year i thought oh this will be the last one cos it went downhill but after BBCH and BB9 I just want more and more!!!

Not very likely.

I would say Likely. With Sharon powers on the job she might just save the show! She should go to BBAU!

By concentrating on just the post 9pm slots they can dal with more adult themes and avoid the problems caused by having a young teen audience watching the show. As for the live feed that will continue on the red button. |
BB is one of C4 biggest TV shows. They would never want to lose it. The fact that they kept it after CBB5 shows how much they want it. Had that been ITV or BBC, I have no doubts they would have axed it. I think will keep it - even if it means moving it full time to E4.
|
BB and its spin offs are all under contract until 2010. The show is extremely cheap to produce with the amount of airtime it gets, and it could be justified with 1m viewers for the highlights. The profit they make makes up 10% of Channel 4's annual profit and Channel 4 are struggling atm so BB won't be going anywhere.

C4 have yet to find an alternative money making method in place of Big Brother. Big Brother allows C4 to buy all of the little niche programs that they have, which makes them unique.
Big Brother is Channel 4's biggest show, they may tone it down (like they have by canceling psychological shows) but I'm sure it'll be there for (at least) a few more years. |
Given what has happened in Austrailia
(See here) it looks like the writing is on the wall, so make the most of this one, because once one goes down, like a line of dominos they all fall |

However, Big Brother could be on its way to ITV. ITV have shown interest in the past and if there is any truth in the article below, well "Big Brother house this is Davina, you are live on Channel 4" could be a thing of the past if ITV still want it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7505131.stm |
ITV would destroy it. Fact.

I don't know if they will but I really hope they do. I don't see Channel 4 continuing with it but E4 might like Celeb Hijack.
|
I think if ITV got their hands on it they would actually restore the show. Davina would possibly be ditched and replaced by one of ITV's golden girls (ie Fearne Cotton, Holly Willoughby etc) which probably wouldn't be a popular choice, but as far as viewing figures go I'd expect 5m+ per episode. But the problem if it went to ITV is that the year it under performs, they won't try and restore it. That will be it. Big Brother over. The main difference is that Channel 4 have stuck with the show through bad years (ie BB4, BB8) and have attempted to restore it the following year. ITV would just say the show has run its course because they don't need the money from BB like Channel 4 do. Channel 4 will probably have found their way by then and found an adequate replacement (probably Shipwrecked), so wouldn't need the show back. I also couldn't see ITV running I'm a Celebrity over November/December then Celebrity Big Brother in January.

BB largely contributes to C4's existence. Not only does it support it greatly but it also gives C4 the money to be able produce so many little, culture, niche type shows. Without BB, you could pretty much say bye bye to shows like, Countdown, The F Word, Ten Years Younger, Sunday Night Project, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, ect. as they are all fitted to a particular demographic that, without the money from BB, C4 couldn't afford to cater for. At the minute, C4 have no other show that could replace BB on that front with the closest being Shipwrecked, which has been a disaster this year and couldn't provide the longevity that BB has shown. With BB there is no C4, and they know that.

Lets hope it stays on channel four, itv may bid for the rights.... That would be the end of bbuk. Not been happy with the live feed coz i have poor mans sky (freeview) :cloud:

Probably very likely the contract will be renewed. It still gets high ratings for Channel 4 even though they are in decline. I can't see it working or lasting very long on any other channel actually. It works well for Channel 4 because that is a minority channel. It wouldn't get high enough ratings on ITV and on something like Five the ratings would be down to a million or something and it wouldn't get much media attention. |
Erm Probley not but i hope so
|
I hope so, im applying for BB11!
