Why is it that Male housemates get away with being bitchy and moany (Luke & Rex) and when women do it they are hated and booed out the house ASAP? I mean Davina said that Jen was a moaner to her face but Rex is like the biggest moaner, arrogant, big-headed, self-loving housemate ever but still gets cheered from the crowd! how is it even possible!? And Luke is a Fav 2 win?? he is like 3 times as bitchy as Grace (BB7) but she was branded the super-bitch, I really dont get it.

I dont compare housemates.. I just like who I like..

Men are easily forgiven for their actions on the show but women aren't
I still haven't forgot how Dale acted on the night when Mohammed got spat on but it seems most viewers have but they didn't forget about Jen who acted better than Dale.

Maybe its because, women are usually branded as bitchy and moaners etcc, in general, so they're hated for doing it on BB aswell.
I actually can't think of an explanation
Luke has started to annoy me lately, he's moaning wayyy too much.
I love Rex though.

I agree completely with the OP. I also think Rex would be hated if he were a female. Rich, posh, whiny, rude. All qualities the public usually deems as annoying; but, because he is an "attractive" (which i don't see) bloke, he is a favourite. I base my favourites based on who I like; not, who I fancy!

if i was in the crowd when luke is evicted i would boo my heart out and i think that a lot of others would too. i do like rex even tho i think that his behaviour lately has been bad. although he is arrogant and says nasty things i think the reason he's not hated is that he is honest. he doesnt bitch behind peoples backs and says he's keeping thisngs real ala jen, sylvia and grace.

Rex has plenty of haters.. I've been discussing Rex with Rex haters nearly all night on here....

I 100% with you, and your way of thinking about housemates is good, I hate it when women just like someone becuase they are "fit"

And i hate it on BBBM when all his female admirers all say they like him becuase hes "real" that is all they say becuase they know they just fancy him. Everyone is real lol were not made of plastic

I love Rex's different, dry personality,. I think his sarcasm is funny, I think he is good to watch, and I like the way he doesnt tiptoe around Mikey....

He is not the Fittest.... but he is my favourite..

i personally love rex but dont think he is attractive as he reminds me of prince harry. i like him because he causes a bit of friction but doesnt think that he is always right or a genuinelly nice person. He knows that he is a w****r most of the time and admits it . go rex !!!

I'd like to say that I don't think Rex is acctractive(and yes I'm female) but I love him anyway!!! Yes he gives out about other HM but he does it to their faces !!! Unlike that two faced Luke who joins in any conversation that happens to be going on and instantly dislikes that HM

I think it is because (and this is true generally, and for whatever reason) men generally are more funny than women. Think of any comedian you can think of, and I would imagine that most of you would think of male comedians. There are hardly any women comedians about and I don't rate any of them that I have seen. Whilst I wouldn't consider Rex fundamentally nasty or on par with housemates that have been booed in the past, he and Luke both get away for their actions for two reasons:

1. They are male, and this is mostly watched by women. A lot of women fancy Rex and a lot of women find Luke's over the top attitude funny (try as I can, I cannot see Luke's fanbase being predominantly male).

2. Both Rex and Luke are funny with what they do. When girls bitch in Big Brother historically they have come across as spiteful, conceited, self-obsessed and bitter individuals. Sylvia, Jen, Grace are key examples of that. They just don't make interesting viewing. Luke redeems himself with his over-the-top behaviour and Rex (this is the same with Darnell) is very aware of his faults. He knows he can come across as arrogant, and nasty. A bit of self-awareness goes a long way in Big Brother, and people like Alex, Charley could of themselves great favours if they managed to even get at least half a clue.

The only exception to the above however is Mario.

Luke's more hated than you would probably think.

its something to do with the british public, you cant say that about all people.
