Rooney being compared to Pele!!
 

:nono: The papers and everywhere are comparing Wayne Rooney to Pele. Give him time or the pressure will kill his talent off. The same happened to Michael Owen in 1998. He was gonna be the worlds greatest player look at him now.
Plus how can you compare an 18 year old to a 3 times world cup winner who scored 97 goals in 92 international apperances... NO WAY yet... maybe in a few years.

The papers are gonna kill him off just like they do to Tim Henman every year when he wins his first round match in straight sets they have him lifting the cup.

Quite agree - the boy has a lot of talent, but dont put too much pressure on him. He's been treated in the right way at Everton who have given him a chance to grow into his role and not pushed him too hard. I hope he stays there, cos I think if he moves to a big money club he could be ruined. He has it in him to be a 'great', but give the kid a chance to grow up first. Look what happened to George Best.

5 Years later, anyone got any opinions on this now? Is Rooney as good as Pele?
