Paparazzi

What are your opinions on them? Should laws be given to celebrities to stop them invading personal space? Is it fair to use "its their job" as an excuse?

I started this because recently theres been a controversial photo of Britney smoking near her son and he's stood next to her holding her lighter. This was discussed on an American showbiz channel and each of the hosts agreed to this statement:

"The only disturbing thing about these pictures is where they were taken, its like the paparazzi are in her trees, its absolutly disgusting, the poor girl's privacy is being invaded."

Even though she did take the lighter away, is it fair that celebrities have no privacy? After all, they are 'just human'. This isn't just on Britney, it was an example. Its open for discussion on all celebrities.

If it had been any other man, standing in her tree- taking pictures of her son, what would the outcry be like?

The fact is, we don't KNOW these paparazzi, some of them are independent freelance photographers. Surely that literally makes them no different to a man standing in someones back garden taking pictures of their kids?

I think the idea of Paparazzi is disgusting, and Celebrities dont deserve to be treated like they are, yes they get paid alot but thats not what makes them happy. Just give them a break and let them live their lives in peace.
I could never personally do it, although some celebs do go looking for trouble, if they are so desperate to get out of the paparazzi's way, they should move out of LA.

I agree. Nothing can be done because its always laid down to "well its their job." They exploit celebrities for a paycheck. Just taking a photo of a high-profile celebrity can land you up to a thousand dollars.

When you're an uber famous celeb, it's expected.

Yeah, but would you like to be in the position where you could be simply in the garden and there would be people in your trees? Or you could be out for a drive and have up to 30 people in cars chasing you.

I don't know why something hasn't been done. If they can't stop it, at least cut down the number working for agencies.

The world is shifting to a get rich quick mindset.

Uber celebs, with what is relatively little effort in pressing a shutter button can provide others with megabux just by having their picture taken.

I'm not condoning what they do, but I can see why they do it.

If I was ever in a position where I'd be getting people sneaking in my garden to take pics of me, I'd hopefully be as equally rich and famous to warrant that attention and I probably wouldn't care.

I don't know how these people can invade their privacy like that. I get worried taking pictures when I meet celebrities, I think I look stupid and obsessed [i do anyway ;D] LOL anyways, I think in public you've got to expect them to take photos of them as they're so well known, but if they're just relaxing or just want peace or so on.. then no, these people should leave them to have their privacy.

Yeah, I agree with your post.

I guess in public when they're doing appearances etc - there's not so much of an issue. But it's when they're just relaxing and the photographers are invading their territory or personal space that it is wrong.

I think it is a small price to pay for being famous. Their would be no need for a picture had Britney not been holding a cigarette. Also, fans of celebrities who are going through a rough time also forget when the celebrities were at their HEIGHTS, the paps were the best friends.

Is it wrong? Yeah. Sure. But celebrities tend to be much richer than us, thereby balancing the equation of me giving a damn.

Sometimes celebs want to be snapped agents ring the papz and say where the celeb is going and the papz are there in a flash.
