Is it ethical to go against one\'s wishes if it\'s in his best interest?
If you have a friend who wants you to do something that would be bad for him, is it ethical to go against his wishes and do the thing that's in his best interest?
The reason I asked this is because I'm actually in this situation myself and need some guidance. In the words of Big Brother, if I follow his wishes I do so at his parole.
Give him/her the right path, if its bad for them don't let them do it.
In the words of Jerry Springer: "Take care of yourselves, and each other." |
Thank you LemonJam. I think you're right. I just hope he's not too mad when he's realized what I've done, and that he realizes I've done it in his best interest....
No, its not ethical at all. People make a decision because thats what they want. People should respect that decision whether they agree with it or not. But sometimes it depends on the situation, but 90% of the time I would say it is not ethical.
I think it depends on the situation. If it harms the other person, or puts them in danger, then I think it's okay to go against someone's wishes.

Best interest as long as you are sure that you are right!!!!!!
Not knowing the actual circumstances it is impossible to know who is right...... |
if you know it will be bad and what ya say in the words of big brother said it all to me, go against his wishes and one day he will thank you for it xx
if you know it will be bad or harm him in any way be it mentally or physically dont do, theres no question xx
Well, without revealing any identifying information, I will just say that if I do what he wants he could possibly end up dead.
