Ex-con tipped for victory

Quote:

AN ex-con and mother of five has emerged as one of this year’s brightest prospects for X Factor stardom.

Londoner Rachel Hylton, 26, overcame years of crime and crack cocaine to wow the judges with a pitch-perfect version of Amy Winehouse’s You Know I’m No Good.

The wannabe was brought up in care and became pregnant with her first child aged TWELVE. She went on to have a further four children all by different fathers.

Some were taken into care after Rachel was sent to prison. Two still live with her.

She tells the judges on Saturday’s show: “I’ll be honest — I’ve been involved in drugs and been to prison. But I just want to make a better life for me and my kids.”

Her performance mesmerises Simon Cowell, who declares: “I absolutely love her. I want to give this girl a second chance.”

She is the winner... Oh but if a lad is from scotland than its no chance.. Yep last years was pants!

BigSister 15-08-2008 11:14 AM

She was mentioned on this morning "this morning"

Tom 15-08-2008 12:08 PM

She won't be winning then. Those they always tip to win never get it, remember last years "soldier" anyone? He got kicked out after about 3 live shows (Andy).

Andy wasn't the solider. The solider didn't even make it past boot camp. I think the soldiers name was Ryan.

An ex con with 5 kids with 5 different fathers, her first "sprog" at just 12.
I bet she gets all the high notes just about perfect after all those births.
As for winning, I hope people have better things to do with there money than vote for another waste of space in socierty and make another one some sort of "star"

Tom 15-08-2008 12:38 PM

I'm sure he was a soldier though?

This morning Dermot & Holly said that this years show was a lot lighter than previous series' and that there were less sob stories.

Callum 15-08-2008 12:40 PM

Yeah, I remember last year they said that soldier from Wales would do well, but he never even made it to boot camp. I expect this will be a similar scenario.

MarkWaldorf 15-08-2008 12:45 PM

She had a child at.....TWELVE?!

Sam 15-08-2008 12:54 PM

Yeah, I really doubt this is true.

GiRTh 15-08-2008 12:58 PM

If she's got the talent then I don't have a problem with her winning.

Tom4784 16-08-2008 12:55 PM

I've heard her mentioned on the x factor interview vids on Digital Spy as well as that boyband that's been mentioned. But she sounds like she;s trying to be Amy Winehouse voice wise. I hope that she's more unique then she sounds as an artist.

Nope.
Andy got the tattoo on his bum :]

The soldier was given the chop at Boot Camp after ruining Somewhere Over The Rainbow [I thinkk]

I don't mind this woman winning if she's talented, and unique.
We don't really need another Amy Winehouse as we have loads already.
After Leona+Leon, who are pretty much carbon copies of Mariah/Christina/Whitney+Michael Buble, I want a unique winner this year.
Though, I never get what I want with reality TV. lmao.

I dont know how they can say this when they haven't started boot camp yet? And if they have then they have only just started. I remember that the judges houses doesnt happen until the first week of september because the person I knew missed the first week of college to go to it.

*mazedsalv** 16-08-2008 05:26 PM

I heard about her and Simon said that he likes her alot,.

kerri 16-08-2008 05:36 PM

everybody deserves another chance and if shes got clean she deserves the same chance as everybody and 5 kids by 5 dads she still could be the best mum in the world i say give the woman a chance and fairplay to her for getting off the junk xx

Magic 16-08-2008 08:49 PM

She was OK, nothing that special though.

(Hark at my Simon Cowell)

Tom 16-08-2008 09:20 PM

Charming.

Noel 16-08-2008 11:27 PM

She was brilliant tonight, you must admit, but last year or the year before, did one contestant not get thrown out because they had a criminal record? Or is that some other show?

Noel 16-08-2008 11:28 PM

No it was last year! That girl in Hope, then they chucked her out! :/

Sam 16-08-2008 11:30 PM

I thought she was great. Quite a unique voice.

Criminal records are allowed as long as there is no outstanding punishment. Her from Hope still had some community service to do or something.
