British reality TV beats BBC, ITV shows
British reality TV shows, such as Wife Swap and Big Brother have earned higher viewer ratings than more traditional programming on BBC and ITV.
Tuesday's episode of Wife Swap on Channel 4 attracted five million viewers, with BBC1's police drama 55 Degrees North, having 4.7 million, and ITV1's drama Rose and Maloney attracting 4.2 million, Britain's Mirror reported Thursday. Big Brother, hosted by Davina McCall, which followed Wife Swap, attracted 5.4 million viewers compared to 4.4 million for BBC's 10 O'Clock News and 3.2 million for ITV's Rudest Home Videos. We're over the moon. Who says people don't like reality TV programs? This proves they love them, said a Channel 4 insider. Big News Network |
