Why would the fact she's a primary school teacher matter?

She teaches a specified syllabus, that doesn't make her a genius in general knowledge.

The question is whether or not she is pretending to be dumb.

My mind is boggling. Children of primary school age will ask question about all sorts of things. Not just questions on the syllabus. I would expect that someone who has a job of teaching our young children to have basic general knowledge. I mean, Walrus. She is a ****ing adult.

I have to agree. Primary school kids need knowledge on many subjects and not just the subjects they're going to be tested on. I'm surprised at Rachels lack of basic general knowledge.

Personally I think most people, including rachel should have known what a Walrus was, although its difficult to gauge in the short HL's show to what extent her ignorance was towards this animal.
Did she not even know it was an animal?, unlikely, or just didnt know what charecteristics it had, relevant to the mime being played out?

Either way its hardly relevant to her suitability or qualification toward being a primary school teacher, I'd rather my kids being taught by someone I could trust and be safe with and have a good understanding of the school sylabus rather than there knowledge or lack of marine mammals.

I was confused that Rachel said that, i was like "did she actually say that?"

I dont believe so at all. In fact I didnt know what it meant until I checked its meaning. I know what a seal is, but have no clue, what a walru is. I read the definition, but I still have no idea what it is. ANd Id like to think that I am pretty knowledgeble about basic tings, and I am a college graduate.

Furthermore, Rex didnt know what a walrus was, he thought it had horns. Darnell pretty much imitated a seal, so he thought it was a seal

She probably thinks these little comments wont even get shown.

Why the hell would I know what that is, if I am not interested whatsoever in the subject. I have seen it before, if I stumble onto a marine biology documentary, but in no way am I interested in it. SO why would I bother knowing the name? I am sure rachel falls into the same cathegory!

I remember being involved in a pub quiz once and the team that won with 97 point from a possible 100 got this question wrong ,, one of three in the whole quiz.

Which England player scored a hat trick in the world cup final? this was in 2006 whilst a world cup was going on at the time and an england match about to kick off after the quiz. Yet 4 in that team come up with Bobby Moore as there answer, how stupid was that? or was it a case of they simply didnt know about our national sport on its greatest and most memourable of days?

To me and the other people I have just asked, we can see no difference to knowing what a walrus is compared to what a Lion is, or a whale. Are you saying if you don't have an interest in Lions you would not know what one is?

My point is not about you, unless you are planning to become a teacher. And then I would expect the person being paid to teach my children in their formative years to have very basic general knowledge.

Would you be happy if your children's teacher did not know what a lion was?

I guess there are many who have never heard of, let alone read, "The Walrus and the Carpenter.

It is a sad sign of the times that the younger generation can use computers but cannot even spell simple words! How on earth can they use Google or any other search engine?

Sorry I wouldnt compare a walrus with a lion. Like I said before, Rex didnt know what it was. Darnell didnt either. GOod for you, to know, but its not common. No one says I have a heart of a walrus!!! LIon is used in everyday language, in expression, in comparaisons. Never Walrus.

As for teachers with great knowledge, if you remember wile going through primary school, one of the best trick of teachers when they didnt know the answer to a general question, was to divert it to the whole class. They are always bound to get the answer like that. I didnt really catch it at the time, but when I was older I realise what it was. Plus Rachel I think is a drama teacher!

Now that, is something to be shocked by, not Walrus!
