He's quite a good lyricist but his voice is very average. There's are hundreds of better voices out there.

But they don't have the exposure that Darnell does. Darnell has a better voice than a lot of muscians nowadays, so I think he deserves a shot [He is working on an album anyway.].

An album that will never see the light of day. You can delude youself into thinking it will if you like, but it won't, he has no selling point no way of marketing him. He could work quite well as a lyricist though, under a false name, natch.
