Nee-vuh or Ni-vuh?

When you say "neither" or "either", do you pronounce it with a long "e" sound or "i"?

Either way, let's call the whole thing off.

Hugo 25-08-2008 09:25 PM

Nee-vuh

Lauren 25-08-2008 09:25 PM

I use both. Oops.

Nee-vuh

But

Eye-vuh.

:conf: I think LOL.

_Tom_ 25-08-2008 09:26 PM

Scarlett. 25-08-2008 09:26 PM

I don't want to make a separate topic for this, either:

Do you say "grass" with a harsh 'a' sound like in "maths"

or with a long 'a' sound like in "spa"?

Long a for me.

Lauren 25-08-2008 09:31 PM

I just the hard 'a' in words like bath, path, grass.

Bells 25-08-2008 09:32 PM

Why have you spelt it like that? I don't get it. I know it's meant to be phonetic, but I'm on about the 'vuh' :conf:.

But yeah, the 'ee' option for me anyway, and I don't know anyone who pronounces it the other way.

Princess 25-08-2008 09:33 PM

Nee-dur

Or something like that, whats with the vuh?

Jen 25-08-2008 09:34 PM

Nee-thur

Shaun 25-08-2008 09:34 PM

Because neither/either is said with a "v" sound? :conf2:

I say 'nee-thur'

AndyShields 26-08-2008 04:18 PM

I say Neye-Ther
I guess I'm posh :spin:

Or does that make me un-posh? :conf2:

Firewire 26-08-2008 04:23 PM

I am Scottish so I pronounce words normal.

Neether
Eeether
Bath (a soft a like the a in ass)
Grass (like the word ass)

Xander 26-08-2008 04:27 PM

I would say Eitehr or Neither with a long "E" sound.
Most of my pronoucations are quite posh e.g Bar-th etc...
But I never say Par-sta. :S
