Are Rex & Darnell guilty of sexual harassment?

Are Rex & Darnell guilty of sexual harassment?

MrGaryy 26-08-2008 11:32 PM

Um, no!

I'm not sure you know the meaning of sexual harassment!

Very_Nayce 26-08-2008 11:34 PM

Oh give over. Yes what Darnell said was nasty but now people are going too far. Sexual harrasment? Give me a break.

Very_Nayce 26-08-2008 11:36 PM

The three people [so far] who have voted yes must be off their heads on hallucinogenics to say a guy being a tosser slagging a woman off is grounds for sexual harrasment.

brandstifter 26-08-2008 11:39 PM

Official Government definition:

"Abusive name calling
Looks and comments about appearance, attractiveness, emerging puberty
Inappropriate and uninvited touching
Sexual innuendoes and propositions
Pornographic material, graffiti with sexual content
In its most extreme form, sexual assault or rape"

With all due respect – and resisting the temptation to rise to your obvious provocation - I think it may actually be your good selves who are unclear on the definition. Darnell, as you know, is clearly guilty of the first four (on numerous occasions). Still, at least he hasn’t committed ‘sexual assault or rape’. Yet.

Their are a huge amount of people from all walks of life who become drunk or thick and make themselves guilty of the first four though. But nobody calls it sexual harrasment unless they take life as seriously as they take themselves. They just call it being a tosser.

andyman 26-08-2008 11:42 PM

What a joke!! This is sick! bb would have kicked them both out by now!

People dont get chucked out for acting an ass. Yes they were in the wrong but theirs no need to take it THAT serious.

Whats more disheartening is the lack of people who stood up for Sara.

“Their [sic] are a huge amount of people form all walks of life who become drunk or thick and make themselves guilty of the first four though. But nobody calls it sexual harrasment [sic] unless they take life as seriously as they take themselves.”

You've just described blatant sexual harassment, going on both common sense and the official definition. And in fact, many people do call it that! How sad and disturbing that you think the behaviour you’ve outlined is acceptable. You give men a bad name and set your children (if you have any) an disgraceful example. :bored:

Blatant sexual harassment. Slightly sad that you think the behaviour you’ve outlined is acceptable. You give men a bad name and set your children (if you have any) an disgraceful example. :bored:
I never said it was acceptable. So you are wrong on that count straight away. Get off your high horse will you? Yes Darnell was a complete arse, but its not something i would take him to a court of law over.

Dont you dare tell me I give men a bad name just because your opinion differs from mine. I have no time for your pseudo-righteous morals.

30stone 26-08-2008 11:48 PM

No but Darnell deserves a warning for the whole picking on sara

rex got one before so they shoul dgive darnell one.

I agree with you on that. Housemates have be warned for less in the past.

andyman 26-08-2008 11:50 PM

lol some people must live in a nanny world! Darnell and rex were having bit of banter and sara was loving... Later she goes "woe is me" what a daft lil vile trout!

brandstifter 26-08-2008 11:52 PM

“Dont [sic] you dare tell me I give men a bad name just because your opinion differs from mine. I have no time for your pseudo-righteous morals.”

Yes, shame on me for respecting women! As for “Don’t you dare…”, it’s easy to threaten people on here, knowing you’ll never meet them. Well done. Mind you, at least resorting to threats of violence shows you haven’t lost the argument! :wavey:

My God, Andyman, I bet you're a big hit with the ladies!

Get off your moral highhorse will you? I never mentioned violence. ''Dont you dare'' is a figure of speech. I never followed it up with an ''or else''.

Also, I do have respect for women. Dont insinuate that I dont, beause its getting old. Just because I would not call it sexual harrasment.

I suggest telling what you have told me to the majority of the forum who have agreed with me and voted 'NO' in the poll.

Its quiet pathetic that you are trying to degrade me like this just because I disagree with you on it being sexual harrasment.

It is quiet pathetic watching you try to run me down as a lesser person just because I disagree with you on something.

Had Sara complained it as Sexual Harrasment, Darnell would be out of their by now.

brandstifter 26-08-2008 11:57 PM

"Yeah but whats that got to do with my kn0b? It fell of ma door! Mi guvna gunna knock ma block off!"

Andyman, on the "BB 9: THIS WEEK'S TWIST; FOUND IT" board. Good to know we're debating with such an intellectual giant.

_Seth 26-08-2008 11:58 PM

Nor really. :ermm:

Oookay, so you've decided that Darnell and Rex haven't been guilty at an point of "abusive name calling", "comments about appearance [or] attractiveness", "inappropriate and uninvited touching" or "sexual innuendoes and propositions" (see definition of sexual harassment above). Thanks for clearing that up for me! :xyxwave:

jarvis 27-08-2008 08:08 AM

This was a very ominous piece of television and if witnessed in any other context would have set alarm bells ringing. Imagine two guys in a bar for example, having the same conversation with a single, uncomfortable female. While Sarah denied she was bothered by their threatening behaviour, her body language was completely incongruent with this. Given Rex’s apparent need to overpower females and Darnell’s grudge against females for his own self deprecation, Sarah was a sitting duck. Channel 4’s lack of intervention was also fairly sinister. The casual way in which 2 over powering males are broadcast threatening a lone female in a sexual manner is reprehensible. There will be many viewers out there, as this board demonstrates, that believe this to be acceptable behaviour.

I couldn't agree more - I watched the 'highlights' show last night in horror - how could Channel 4 and co let that carry on? Jade Goody and Co were in big trouble for suppossed 'racism' so why are these 'men' being allowed to insult a woman? Dont forget Mo as well offering Cider and Fags for kisses! :yuk: They shouldall be removed from the house asap - they are a disgrace.
