Yes it is Sexual Harassment!

When 3 men gang up on a woman and continuously make sexual comments that make her feel uncomfortabale and in the manner and tone they were delivered - that is sexual harassment! I am well able to banter with the rest of them but that last night was uncomfortable! It was pure bullying and totally of a sexual nature. I was absolutely disgusted - more so than i've ever been in all the years i've watched Big brother. And when Darnell asked would she show her 'tits' for a million, when she made him ask the rest of the girls the same question - he changed the word 'tits' to 'boobs' - thus showing the aggression shown to her was not appropriate for the other female house mates. It really made me question what those 3 men would have been capable of had there not been other house mates around.

agreed totally

Yes it was, but it's not going to get anywhere legally so what's the point of labelling it as such?

Furthermore, if I were you I wouldn't enter into the debate of what they "may have been capable of doing". Not only is it pure speculation, but it's defamation on their character for suggesting what they may have been capable of doing. The fact is, they didn't do anything, and we shouldn't assume or speculate what could have happened.

You've got to admit it was uncomfortable viewing though and whilst it might not be a police matter, it would be a disciplinary matter in any organistional setting and is sexual harrassment. And though they may not have taken it furthur, you just couldnt help but wonder

I found it uncomfortable, yes.

As far as I know, though, Sara did not make a formal complaint nor discuss her concerns at their behaviour with BB and so we cannot apply OUR thoughts on the situation to her.

As viewers, we may have thought about it differently than Sara did. She was visibly upset; but to the extent she felt violated and offended? Maybe not.

NettoSuperstar! 27-08-2008 12:45 PM

Well agreed she wants to handle it her way and shes handled it very well. I think she was very uncomfortable mind and if it was to continue for much longer...but thats speculation;)

NettoSuperstar! 27-08-2008 12:46 PM

and I would say deeply offended judging by her reaction

That seems to be a matter of opinion mate, but Ive read that Rex and Darnell have been spoken to about it which is good enough in my book

SamR 27-08-2008 12:49 PM

Its not sexual harassment IMO, just plain bullying

yeh i know its annoying though it seemed they kinda laughed it off..

and the darnell fans are so reluctant to say thta he was bad

sugar coating it an blaming sara.
wish he has lost more fans than i think

Nattynoona 27-08-2008 12:51 PM

Thanks moderator but i would like to point out that i said it made 'me' question what they were capable of....i didn't say what it was i was questioning or what i felt they were capable of. But the extent of the bullying was very uncomfortable to watch. The whole thing made me feel a bit sick. I'm amazed no one else spoke out when they took the bullying further when they went inside.

But the bullying is all related to her sexuality so wouldnt you call that sexual bullying or sexual harrassment

jonsep 27-08-2008 12:53 PM

so if sara said to stu would you get your dick out for a million pounds would that then be classed as harassment.
i dont think so.

NettoSuperstar! 27-08-2008 12:55 PM

It was the context it was said in. If it had just been a question directed at everyone or if all the other stuff hadnt have happened it wouldnt have mattered

sexual bullying I would call it

NettoSuperstar! 27-08-2008 12:58 PM

Ok SamR I'll go with that :)

Nattynoona 27-08-2008 12:58 PM

They didn't just say 'would you get your tits out for a million pounds' did they? It was everything before it and after. And then that comment about Ratattoui - talk about a man scourned - what a bitch!

DOGSMOTHER 27-08-2008 01:08 PM

Do not think it was good enough that BB simply asked Sara if she was ok with everything. I believe they should have called Darnell into the diary room - it cleary was sexual harrasment. Think it was worse than Alex and she got booted out.

LAUREN said
"Yes it was, but it's not going to get anywhere legally so what's the point of labelling it as such?"
WHAT!
Because it is what it is ... it was an attack and the underlying theme of any attacks from Rex, Mo and Darnall is "your a ***** Sara".. call it what it is! . I've heard other people on this forum say well they didn't sexually assault her so how can it be harrament.. sweet lord!! how damaged...
LOL but according to LAUREN
" She was visibly upset; but to the extent she felt violated and offended? Maybe not."
Oh it's you who decides all that stuff is it LOL I thought she may have a say in that.
Before you say "she did have her say" remember that she has to live in the BB house afterwards so her answer was under duress hehe
