Ahmed goes home with head held high - Cameron Stout
By Cameron Stout
SO Ahmed’s out. What a disappointment. I reckon there was more to come from him. But he’s been going a bit mad, so maybe it would have been unfair to keep him in. It’s a shame that his eviction came as no surprise to the other housemates though. Strangely, his eviction interview was indoors. Davina claimed it was because he had a lot of important things to say and she wanted to make sure everyone heard. But I heard Channel 4 had received death threats against him. The point of BB is to stir up emotions, but that’s just people going loco. For me, the interview was hard to watch. It was tough watching a grown man, from a male-dominated society, watch clips of himself crying. And, I was worried he might reveal truths about his deeper feelings, which would have been more serious than viewers expect from BB. He touched on it when he talked of disliking the boot camp task, because he’d lived under an oppressive regime. Again, he claimed his problem with Michelle was that she’d shouted at him, repeating his ‘nobody shouts at me’ stance. I do think he has a problem with women in authority. Michelle threw a flip-flop at Ahmed. Remember the Iraqis hitting Saddam Hussein’s statue with their shoes? It’s a huge insult to Muslims, but I don’t imagine she realised. As a sergeant in the boot-camp task, Michelle was under pressure to encourage privates to pass but felt bad since then they’d all be up for eviction. She was beyond frustration with Ahmed’s behaviour when he refused to take part and no wonder. I’d have kicked his backside and told him to get on with it. For all his carry on, I think Ahmed will be holding his head high. I don’t agree with all he’s done, but from his point of view I think he’ll be able to sleep at night. I don’t have any personal experience of Somalia, but I imagine his behaviour would seem less misogynistic and more like the norm there. I was delighted to hear him say that being on BB was a dream he’d been determined to accomplish. His other dreams have included leaving behind civil war and making a new life for himself. That makes me realise what a big deal BB was to him. Jason and Victor have been discussing what offers they’ll take up when they come out. I’ve heard some of the agents are not interested in taking on BB folk this year, so they could be in for a shock. I was horrified to hear housemates say Jason comes across as aggressive because of his Scottish accent. I think it’s the tone he uses rather than the accent. You know, the most developed muscles on Jason’s body must be in his brow, with all the frowning he’s been doing. Had he been up for eviction this week, I think he’d have been out. We all need a break from his constant moaning. There’s been lots of friction between him and Nadia. They’re acting like babies and should have their heads banged together. Again, Nadia has been suffering with her nicotine addiction and has been very emotional, but she provides so much fun. Other than Stuart’s caper when he didn’t want BB to repossess his cape, the funniest moment was on Friday when Nadia was given her own task. She had to make all the housemates laugh in under an hour and did it in eight minutes. Even Jason laughed. Brilliant! I really think Nadia has a big chance of the BB5 crown. Well, tarra for noo!
