RACHEL: SCHOOL DAZE

Don't get me wrong - I love Rachel. She's so friendly and so positive and I hope she wins (especially as it'll annoy Luke, Bex, Nicole, Rex and Darnell so much). But come on – I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when I hear a trainee teacher reveal that:

1. She doesn’t know how many days there are in a year.
2. She doesn’t know if a potato’s a vegetable…
3. …and thinks a tomato is one.
4. She thinks London’s a village.
5. She’s never head of Boris Johnson.
6. She doesn’t know what a walrus is.
7. She thinks Belgium is a city.
8. She doesn’t know what condiments are.
9. She doesn't know what the word 'peril' means.
10. She's never heard the phrase "toilet humour".
11. She thinks Mexico is a Caribbean island.

Rachel, you’re a great gal but come on – get it sorted! Our children’s futures are in your hands, lol!

Ross 30-08-2008 10:27 PM

Children don't learn that stuff at school though.

She did the Alphabetic backwards really quick, that's enough.

decdec456 30-08-2008 10:29 PM

She frickin does know what these things are

trying to forge out a character for herself in the last few weeks

with the chirpy baby goo goo and stupid card

who is that girl fooling?

Not that many it appears as she is unbelievably popular

sigh

WORSE THAN CAMERON

WORSE THAN CAMERON

:spin2:

Been a while since you were at school, lol? :pat:

AndyShields 30-08-2008 10:30 PM

She wants to teach drama and English most of that stuff isn't really necessary, especially not for the former which I take it she's more interested in.
Most primary school teachers aren't masterminds, and they don't need to be, they need to be caring, emotionally intelligent and able to teach (Obviously) and Rachel is all those things.

They also need a range of qualifications and its hard to see how Rachel was intelligent enough to obtain them!

I've supported her all the way through but the last couple of weeks I've noticed a load of things about her... she is fake!

AlexBigBrother 30-08-2008 10:38 PM

she thought mexico was a carribean island

Yeah, but teaching qualifications are mostly about childcare with basics in the subjects she'd be teaching.
Dale got a degree, that madwoman on the X Factor got a degree and Bex managed to get qualifications to look after toddlers *shudders*. Rachel's is believable by those standards and judging on what the qualifications are based in.
And she thought Mexico was in the Carribean not that it was an island, which it technically can be defined as being in:thumbs:

gavinh2008 30-08-2008 10:45 PM

I dont even know what toilet humour is, can someone help me out here?

supernoodles! 30-08-2008 10:48 PM

The things Rachel has been questioning such as is a potato a vegetable, whos boris johnson are all common sense!she KNOWS these things she just being fake and putting on a great bit act!

brandstifter 30-08-2008 10:50 PM

"Who's Boris Johnson?" ~ Rachel

Would that be the Boris Johnson who's the Mayor of London, occasional TV presenter, Tory MP, shadow Education Minister, former editor of the Spectator, frequent topic of controversial headline news and all-round media celebrity? Nope, sorry, never heard of him!
:pat:

Other housemates have been cripplingly stupid over the series though.
Rex thought being proud of curves was 'sexual' and has made countless mistakes
Dale made a million and two mistakes about everything
Bex thought Luke was a 'politic' and that Hilary Duff was running for President as well as countless other much more mindless things than the dubious list on Rachel up there
Why is Rachel fake and they aren't?

Lisa's grasp of language has been amusing too and she's invented a wealth of new words, such as "interpretated", "fyansay" and "criticalism". :joker:

AndyShields 30-08-2008 10:56 PM

LOL Lisa was hilarious, I want her back  But i don't think she was fake either...
I just think BB attracts people who are a bit dim!

A bit dim? it is a marvellous example of where our education system is going!

AndyShields 30-08-2008 11:03 PM

I thought it would be a more polite way of putting it than 'a bunch of complete and utter thickos'

Forgive the cliché but I blame the parents. Teachers’ hands are tied. :nono:
