TiBB\'s 2008 Music Awards [Fin.]

http://i37.tinypic.com/309owhk.png
-------------------------------------------------------

2008 is rapidly coming to an end and with it the opportunity to reminisce of the year's musical exploits arises. Some of you might remember last year I hosted the 2007 awards, in which Mika, Leona Lewis and Take That did rather well.

For the next few months, a variety of awards and nominations will be taking place - with the final awards ceremony due to hopefully take place around late-November or December.

I can now give you the list of awards which will eventually be given out, as follows:

-----------------------------------------------

The Awards:
Best UK Solo Artist - Male
Best UK Solo Artist - Female
Best UK Group
Best UK Single
Best UK Album
Best UK Breakthrough Artist (must be new to the music scene in 2008, such as Adele/Duffy)
Best UK Breakthrough Group (such as the Ting-Tings, Scouting For Girls...)
Best UK Breakthrough Single (same rules as above)

Best International Solo Artist - Male
Best International Solo Artist - Female
Best International Group
Best International Single
Best International Album
Best International Breakthrough Artist (such as Katy Perry)
Best International Breakthrough Group (such as The Script)

The TiBB Award for Upcoming Talent - this award goes to someone currently not well-known or commercially successful. It can be a local band, a reality TV contestant...whatever you like. Just give an explanation in your nominations, perhaps a little presentation with some of their work.

And finally "the TiBB "****" Award for Crimes to Music" - the only negative award, but with the standard of music today I feel a necessary one.

----------------------------------------------

So, onto the nominations. From now until 31st October 2008, you will be able to cast your votes for EACH category in this thread. On that date, I will count them all up and sort out the shortlists for the awards, which will be voted for mid-November. The results of these votes will be announced in an Awards Ceremony.

So get nominating! You can nominate up to 3 different acts for each award. Be as creative and different as you like.

yes they are swedish

Shaun 01-09-2008 08:15 PM

Hmm...it's not exactly known in the US though, is it? I consider international music to be successful, or at least well-known, on both sides of the Atlantic.

Best International Album and Female: Alanis Morissette

Her album 'Flavors of Entanglement' is miles better than the majority of music this year and is not following the genres trends.

but isnt EF their breaktrough single.like Mercy was Duffy's breaktrough single even though Rockferry was releaed as the first single before that.

xDramatick 01-09-2008 08:53 PM

Shaun, I'm gatecrashing your awards.

JUST NOMINATE WHAT YOU WANT.
Everyone will have conflicting opinions.
If it ends up messing up the final results [i.e. Sam Sparro winning Best UK Male and Best International Male]
Shaun will figure something out =][/b]

Didn't Time to pretend go Top 40?

Shaun 01-09-2008 08:59 PM

To put it simply - the UK section of the awards are for artists who are MAINLY known in the UK and the UK alone. With the likes of Sam Sparro and Alphabeat, they're not ****-hot in the US/Canada/Australia, they're big thanks to their success in the UK.

The international section can be for artists who are equally successful abroad. Such as Kanye West, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Timbaland...

Magic 01-09-2008 08:59 PM

I'll vote later, although I wouldnt say its coming to an end!
