Callum and DT\'s Christmas Gift Ideas and Gift Finder Thread [OPEN]

http://i34.tinypic.com/2lwu3ht.png
Christmas can be a very stressful time of the year, especially wondering what presents to buy for your friends and family.

Well if you haven't got a clue on what to buy your loved ones this Christmas, or just want some ideas on good gifts, you've came to the right place!

In this thread you can:
A) Post a name of an item you're thinking of getting someone, then I'll find a good product to match your request. Please state whether you'd like the product to be fairly cheap or if the price doesn't matter. Any additional details are always welcome.

B) You could just ask for some advice on what to get a particular family member/friend. You can ask what the most popular gifts are for the upcoming Christmas.

Quote:

Example:
Person A "I'm having trouble finding a gift for my dad. He loves golf and is a big fan of Oasis. His favourite clothing store is Flannels. I'd like to get him something quite cheap, maximum budget £50."

Then I would surf the net to find a good match for the given request.

Person B: "I've found something which I think he would like. It's Oasis' new album titled 'Dig Out Your Soul' and it comes with an exlcusive Oasis DVD.

Here's the link:
http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...&sku=853367&WT.
http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Imag.../RKIDCD51X.JPG
It's a good price at £11.99 for both the CD/DVD.
http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Imag.../4041TSCHM.JPG
Above is also an Oasis t-shirt, he might also like this, and it's not going over your budget as both the CD/DVD & t-shirt would come to £21.98.
DoubleTrouble (aka Loukas) is now going to be helping out.

Magic 06-10-2008 10:38 PM

Ohh, is DT helping again?

SiaSiaSia 06-10-2008 10:39 PM

Callum 06-10-2008 10:40 PM

Yes this opens for business tomorrow. Wooo! :cheer:
Sia your request has been noted.

Christina 06-10-2008 11:52 PM

Great idea.. i may need some help with mine, you must know what boys/men like, i end up buying my dad chocs and Linx every year hopefully you can find me something better haha ill request when its open =D x

Ross 06-10-2008 11:55 PM

I love this thread.

Ok Callum, I want to buy my Mum something really pretty/something she can use all the time.

I don't want to get her Perfume/Clothes or any of that junk that I usually get her. I want something special, she likes her feet being massaged and she likes anything to do with Agatha Christie. Like the Poiroit shows on ITV.

Maxium of £150 to spend. Will go over.

Same for my Dad, I'm terrible to buying things for him. Anything other than the usual Aftershave/Clothes too.

Callum 07-10-2008 04:59 PM

This was a tricky one but I found a few things he may like, first one of the most obvious gifts for the other half:
http://i34.tinypic.com/102j9m9.jpg
Price: £9.99
Link: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001151& productId=1500241577&langId=-1&engine=froogle&keyword=Love+Cut+Out+Photoframe
I think it's nice because you could stick pictures of you and your boyfriend in the letters, and it'd look really cool. You said he wanted something from the heart, and I think this is a really good idea as it's expressing that you love him but with pictures.

I thought he might like the English rock band Pink Floyd, seeing as they were popular in the 70's/80's and this t-shirt might appeal to him:
http://i33.tinypic.com/15he4ch.jpg
It has a nice retro feel to it, and it is able to voice music taste through a t-shirt. The sizes vary from Small to XXLarge.
It costs £20 which is quite good value.

http://i38.tinypic.com/a5b03d.jpg
Now I thought he might like something to amuse while at the computer. Just plug the hamster in via the usb port and when he types the hamster will run around on his wheel. The faster you type, the faster he'll run.
Price: £14.95
Link:
http://www.gadgets.co.uk/item/USBHAM...ter-Wheel.html

or

http://i34.tinypic.com/zvarya.jpg
A nice little radio gadget to listen to his favorite tunes on the go. You can take it anywhere with you.
Pirce: £14.95
Link: http://www.gadgets.co.uk/item/REMOTEMOPED/Retro-Radio-Control-Moped.html

Finally:
http://i37.tinypic.com/2u8l5s6.jpg
A tad over the budget but it could be handy if say he had a bad day at college and needed to vent out his anger. Also just a nice little gizmo to squeeze around for fun.

Hope you like my choices Sia. :spin:

Christina 07-10-2008 05:01 PM

I found a few things:
http://i37.tinypic.com/dr77uo.jpg
Pushing Daisies, series 1. I think she'll like this because it's a really popular American tv show, it was also shown in the UK earlier this year. The plot's easy to understand as well, I watch it and I think it's a great show and I think it's appealing to anyone.
Price: £17.97
Link: http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/product.aspx?R=847931&

http://i34.tinypic.com/15cnhbl.jpg
I think she'll like What Happens In Vegas. It's a really funny film, and has a good plot. The two main characters are well knows actors too, and both live up to their reputation. I really liked this film and I think your sister will to.
Cost: £12.97
Link: http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/product.aspx?R=868572&

http://i36.tinypic.com/xl08r5.jpg
This is the autobiograpy of comedian Dawn French, which I'll think she'll like. Dawn is not known for being a girly girl and I expect she's had a lot of ups and downs in her life which'll be a good read. It's great for her to release an autobiography as everyone just sees her as the comedian from The Vicar of Dibley and this book will give a proper rounded background to her.
Price: £9.49

Hope you like my choices.

Seeing as you said she likes having her feet massaged, I found this great foot massager online, it's had a review of 5/5. It's good because instead of having to ask for foot massages, she can just get this out whenever she fancys one, and it does the job.
Price: £49.99
Link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Medisana-Thermoped-Foot-Massager-IFM/dp/B000J4E3WI

http://i37.tinypic.com/j10n05.jpg
Now I thought she'd really like this seeing as you said she liked Agatha Christie. This is her autobiography. I'm sure it's a good read, and is the perfect gift for die hard Agatha fans.
Price: £6.99
Link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Autobiography-Agatha-Christie/dp/0006353282/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223491882&sr=8-4

http://i35.tinypic.com/1zpmu50.jpg
Another good book for Agatha Christie fans. It's all about the life and crimes of Agatha Christie.
Price: £11.89

http://i38.tinypic.com/egyb0x.jpg
I thought she might like Dido's new album, and she has a very appealing voice, and is something nice to listen to have a chill out. It isn't out until the 3rd of November, but you can pre-order it now.
Price: £8.93

For your dad, I thought I'd choose one of the most popular gifts for adults for 2008; a digital photo frame. It may not look like much, but my grandparents have one and they love it, it's a great way to look back over memories. You just have to insert the digital camera's memory card into the frame and it'll play the photos via slideshow and it does look neat. It's a 9 inch screen and it can also play sounds/videos. It does cost quite a bit, but if you buy it you get an offer to save £5 on a camera memory card.
Price: £89.99
Link: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5700563/Trail/searchtext%3EDIGITAL+PHOTO+FRAME.htm#tab3

Hope you like the choices.

http://i35.tinypic.com/dxbupv.jpg
Appearently it is really good, and I would advise buying soon as they are going to be selling like gold dust just before Christmas.
Price: £18.00

Well, First can i say well done for making up with your boyfriend :). Hope you had fun while you were away.
Now this request is slightly tricky because i have a wide variaty of things i can look for..

Here are LOADS of gift ideas.. It might spring up an idea on what he might like..

Why not take him back to his childhood.. This gift is perfect for that..

Retro Sweet Jar

http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/store.../swejar_lg.jpg

"With sugar glazed eyes and scuffed knees we clutched our half a crown and craned our necks up to those high shelf jars packed with tooth sticking glory. Oh it almost brings tears to your eyes. So long ago, so many trips to the dentist since, but lament no more, those moments of childish mouth-watering joy are not lost forever."

It Contains:

A jar stuffed with 80s classic sweets.
The jar contains:-
5 Drum Sticks
5 Double Lollies
1 bag of Tooty Frooties
3 packets of Popping Candy (Space Dust)
100g Liquorice Torpedoes
3 Mega Refresher Chew Bars
3 WHAM Bars
3 Vimto Bars
1 Dip Dab
100g Flying Saucers
1 box of Candy Sticks
1 box of Chocolate Cigarettes
100g Black Jacks
100g Fruit Salads
100g Bubblegums
100g Candy Shrimps
1 roll of Parmaviolets
1 Curly Wurly
100g cola cubes
100g Dolly mixtures

This gift is so.. YUM!? :P
You can get all of that for £21:99 from http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/gorge...jar/index.html

Does he like drinking tea or coffee?! Well if so this gift is just perfect.

ON and OFF Mug

http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/store.../onoffm_lg.jpg

"Most sane humans don't come to life in the morning until they've had their first cuppa. Somehow a steaming brew puts the world back into place. Annoyingly though, it's a busy old world, and if like so many of us you have to hit the hamster wheel running, then that life-line cuppa soon goes cold, and you reach for it only to be assaulted by that horror of horrors, a cold brew and that's the day shot to pieces."

This heat senced mug is cool. When hot liquid is in the mug it says "ON" on the mug. And "OFF" if People might think its geeky but so what.. ******* them :P. I think its cool.

This Mug is £15:99 From http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/gorge...mug/index.html

If they are not good enough.. Tell us and will will give you more ideas.. ;)

xx

Annie 10-10-2008 06:36 PM

Sometimes the perfect present doesn't have to be bought ;).. Something that is hand made like a scarf or jumper. Something like that is perfect. If you want it to be special, i would make a scarf.. and even it fails you will sit there and laugh about it. I know Annie your 19 and Knitting is prob not cool but its still a beautiful thing to do for someone you love.

Merry Christmas
