I\'ll probably get mauled for this...

But Diana's voice isn't natural at all. It's put on and I find that unfortunate -- she's imitating Damien Rice's style to a tee and I just wish she'd find some way to make it her own without sounding like she's ripping him off. When people call her 'original', it just frustrates me because she by far wasn't the first to do -- nor will she be the last.

EDIT: She reminds me of Lisa Hannigan. Look her up on YouTube.

Her voice is very unique, I luv her voice, is isn't as strong as Laura's or Alex's, but she has a lovely voice, she was by far the best tonight.

Spike 18-10-2008 10:27 PM

I'm not her biggest fan but she is unique and deserves to get far

Wildcat! 18-10-2008 10:27 PM

What funny is people think she is unique! She is such a copycat

To me she is exactly like Dolores O'Riordan, if youve never see her sing! you tube it

Arneldo 18-10-2008 10:28 PM

I think it is the most pure, the most unique, the most beautiful of the competition.

Tom 18-10-2008 10:29 PM

I like her but her voice sounds like shes got a blocked nose. Shes not original, pretending to be original makes you an even bigger copy than Alexandra singing Whitney.

Bells 18-10-2008 10:29 PM

She's unique on TXF though, and she's just like a breath of fresh air. It's easy to forget how young she is. She's very likeable and has tonnes of potential... it's great to see someone so talented on TXF who is also sweet, and has a different style.

I agree! Thank god someone feels the same way

For once, mer and you agree a lot about something!:blush2:

But I think only 2 or 3 people dare say this on this forum!

Locke. 18-10-2008 10:34 PM

She's like marmite  (as this thread has proven)

Sean19 18-10-2008 10:36 PM

Lauras voice pisses me off .. too much .. its strained when she does all her vibratos and stuff and that horrible .. nose thing she does .. she cant win !!
Diana is easily the best there but i see why people say about her .. she still shud win it

hannah. 18-10-2008 10:39 PM

she has a lovely voice, but I don't know why she does that nasal thing. Like last week- WITH OR WITHOUOU YHHHNEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWW

XxShortyxX 18-10-2008 10:39 PM

Again, Laura has an unique voice, that girl can defo sing. All the girls are miles better the the boys, everyone I know has said the boys are crap compared to the girls.

MarkWaldorf 18-10-2008 10:39 PM

I agree. VERY overrated.

Yeh, I'm sure she's spent years studying her and perfecting how to copy her.

Rather than there being someone among the millions and millions of singers in the world that she happens to sound like. It's not like there is going to be anything in the world that can be completely new and unique after all these years of existence.

Fom 18-10-2008 10:42 PM

I think they say original for the fact that no one in the charts is like it at the moment! The last person to have a voice like hers was the singer from Cranberries and that was in the 90's... she is original for this time. And she has a HUGE chance to succeed as no one in the market is her competition.

Its like saying Alex isnt unique because she sounds like every other singer there is... but she is unique in her own way.

ThisIsMarie 18-10-2008 10:45 PM

Totally agree.

Btw, I love Cranberries, esp Zombie!

I wouldn't say it's unique, but it is very different. I was worried she didn't have any power in her voice until tonight's show and she proved she did.

She should make the top 3 at least because she does actually have the X-factor.

Hve you ever heard Norah JOnes Sing? Diana sounds almost exactly like her, and I can name a few more!

QED.

She is not original, but she's unique on the X Factor, as there has been nobody like her before. I don't think anybody's claiming she's original in that sense, just that she's unique to TXF.

Diana's voice is a totally different sound from that in the clip. It's more raw. It sort of goes up at the end of long notes at the end of phrases which gives her a distinctive sound.

Not unique, but certainly distinctive.

She is the sort of singer that you would recognize straight away if her record was on the radio without the DJ telling you who it was.

Thats just the studio version. If you hear Norah sing live, she is very similar. I have no doubt she grew up imitating her. Nothing wrong with that, but make no mistake, she is not some sort of a novelty! As soon as I first heard her auditioning, I thought Norah Jones straight away and Dolores O'Riordan

Any live clips out there so we can compare?

Emzy-!! 18-10-2008 11:24 PM

I think she is very original, I love her voice and I love the way she sang that Michael Jackson song, it was very original.

And I think you should get mauled for this Killian. LOL joking.
