Anyone ever wrote a song?

Ive set myself a task/project over this weekend to write my own song. Now with the lyrics I seem to be quite alright but its the music side thats getting me... im trying my best with Garageband but its really difficult. Anyone else wrote a song?

Got any tips? Wanna share them with us?
Anyone wanna help? haha.

I write regularly, got quite a few notebooks full of song ideas.
Just write what comes to you, even if it sounds bad, you'll find yourself going back over it later and thinking of something better.

As for the musical side.. I leave that to my boyfriend.

So many.

I dunno, I just get a tune in my head, play it, write it down, add a chord sequence and then add the details after.

Make sure to have contrast but flow at the same time in your verses and chorus's.

Experiment alot in the bridge section until you get the perfect bridge.

Make the tune catchy mainly.

Want to introduce me to him? Haha just kidding.
I have a fair few lyrics, I tend to write when im feeling down instead of piling it on people who dont wanna listen.

Hahahaha, well, I'll give you some random chords if you want to get you started: (Get a keyboard or sumfink)

RH is Right Hand, LH is Left Hand.

RH: C B C A
LH: G D E C
LH: C G A F

Yeh, dunno how to explain it any better

Hope I've helped.

Yes, me and 2 friends wrote one about another friend of mines family (not cruel, just for a joke), it was crap though and was a few years ago now.

I think I might pass on this idea, I am not clever enough to write my own songs haha. Must find something else to beat the boredom!

Indierock&roll 24-10-2008 08:45 PM

i used to right songs...
but stupid ones that really didnt make sense and just used tunes from other songs and made my own lyrics..
haha i remember one that was called "sugar nights" :/ to the tune of thriller lmao it was funny anyway haha

ha so you were bored and thought why not right a song haha

Fom 24-10-2008 08:55 PM

Exactly haha, I love singing and I have always wanted a song to call me own, but im clearly not smart enough!

I composed a Remix song while I was in london... it was a kind of remixed eastenders tune :P
I got someone to beatbox and then it went...

"You aint my muvvvaaaaa!"
"YES AII AMMMMMM!"
Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum DU DU Dum

*enter tune with beatbox*
*added 'Yeah''s and 'Lick ma lollipop''s and 'Holla''s*

We had to write a few for music lessons at school, actually got pretty good marks for all mine.

I still write plenty of lyrics but just not that good on the musical side of things lol.
