Hylton hoping for \'X Factor\' praise

X Factor star Rachel Hylton is reportedly desperate to prove herself on tonight's show.

Despite winning praise from the judges in the early stages of the ITV1 talent competition, the mother-of-five has received a lukewarm response since the live episodes began.

Two weeks ago, the aspiring singer's mentor Dannii Minogue was criticised for choosing Robyn's 'With Every Heartbeat' as her song for the first live show. The row led to Hylton picking her own track, Michael Jackson's 'Dirty Diana', last weekend - but she still feels that she has yet to show what she is capable of.

Speaking on her online video diary, Hylton told fans: "I really want to apologise to all the people who've been disappointed with my last two weeks' performances, but rest assured I'm really confident this week that you're going to like what I'm doing. I'm going to sing an old soul classic so my voice is obviously going to go back to the place that everyone likes, which is my comfort zone."

The X Factor airs at 7.45pm tonight on ITV1.

I wonder what she will sing? I really want her to sing that song at her first auditions, because she sung that brilliantly.

I think she should sing something with maturity and soul - and not wear a stupid suit. She should have a gorgeous gown on!

I agree with you Annie, she needs to class it p a bit, she has soul in her voice but it needs to be controlled. If she doesnt pull something out of the bag tonight she may well be in the bottom 2
