http://www.itv.com/img/150x113/Coron...9613a729dd.jpg Weatherfield Goes Wild in Africa 07/11/2008 ITV DVD is delighted to announce that the eagerly anticipated Coronation Street DVD is to be released on November 10th 2008. Fans of the cobbles will see the return of mother from hell Cilla Battersby-Brown (Wendi Peters) as she aspires to hit the big time in the sun kissed climes of Sun City, South Africa. There’s only one problem; she needs her family on hand if she’s to stand any chance of pulling off the most audacious of scams! Chesney (Sam Aston) and Kirk (Andy Whyment) are delighted to be reunited with Cilla, but it’s not long before Ches smells a rat and Cilla is forced to explain to her gutted son why they have really been brought half way round the world. Cilla eventually drops the bomb she has entered them in a prize to find the ‘Sunshine Family Of South Africa’ – and has been rather ambitious with the truth about her kids back in Manchester. Duping them into joining her out there won’t be enough for Cilla, though. It’s not long before forlorn Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), fresh from more heartbreak from John Stape, dashes out to Africa too. Others have their eye on the main prize of $500,000 too and if she’s going to get her grubby mitts on the dosh – she’s going to have to bring down the opposition first. Things are unlikely to run smoothly, however, as Ches’ head is turned by the enemy, Fiz finds love, and Cilla’s latest beau is exposed to her scheming ways as they run the gauntlet of the South African bush - complete with lions, snakes and crocodiles! At times both touching and hilarious, this 100 minute spin-off will make you laugh and cry in equal measures. Only time will tell if the motley crew of Cilla, Ches, Fiz and Kirk will land the unlikely title of Sunshine Family and walk away with more money than they could dream of… DVD SPECIFICS Name: Coronation Street: Out of Africa Released by: ITV DVD RRP: £19.99 Release Date: 10th November Certificate: PG Extras: The return of Cilla, Filming in Africa, The Making Of |

Coronation Street: Out of Africa is a fun film set in the sun and seaside resort of Sun City, South Africa. Cilla Battersby, the mother from hell, brought her son and other "son" over to Africa to win a competition for $500,000
The characters of the film are more coulourful and shine out just as much as the characters on the Weatherfield street, from the new Les, to the crazy TV presenter, who tries to undermine the contestants of the competition. The locations are dazzling (there is even a flashback of a Las Vegas casino!) the Street also features at the start, with cameo's from Becky, Tina and Sophie. The whole film is stunning and well shot The editing and camera angles really bring Coronation Street to life, and the music used in it really helps make it all feel special. The plot is entertaining for the word go, and will keep you laughing from start to finish, Coronation Street really shows what it still has left to give the nation, and why it is still No.1 after 48 long years. I know I might be a little bias with the rating, but I can honestly say I cannot find one thing I was let down on, the whole thing really felt like a dive into the life of Coronation Street's best family. 10/10 Out of Africa creator Gavin Blyth should be proud |
Will have to watch.
