Homesick Nicola McLean ready to flee the I'm A Celebrity jungle
Model Nicola McLean is on the verge of quitting I’m A Celebrity after complaining of homesickness.

Speaking in the ITV1 show’s Bush Telegraph diary room, she said she was bored in the Australian jungle and didn’t think she could go on.

The 25-year-old angrily complained: ‘This is a tough day...I’m missing home. I thought we’d be doing stuff. I can’t just sit there. I honestly don’t think I’m going to be able to stand it here, I hate it, really hate it.

'At home I don’t stop, here there’s nothing to do. I’ve not done a trial or a chest or anything since day one and two.’

The glamour girl, who is engaged to Peterborough United player Tom Williams, took herself off to her hammock and attempted to shut out the rest of the campers.

And when the other contestants tried playing charades, Nicola admitted she was baffled, saying it ‘goes right over her head’.

She said: ‘I went to sleep, no that’s not for me all that nonsense playing charades and stuff like that. I feel like it’s a Christmas gone wrong.’

Meanwhile former Dollar singer David van Day, 51, was picked by viewers to crawl through a series of underground tunnels in the Holey Moley Bushtucker Trial – in spite of his fear of the dark.

He screamed as rats crawled over him and he tackled cane toads, eels and spiders to collect stars so that his fellow celebrities could eat, managing to gain five meals.

At one point he had to crawl through gushing water. As he came out of the tunnel, he took deep breaths and said to Ant and Dec: ‘It was terrible...absolutely the worst thing I’ve ever done in my life.’

When asked what his campmates would say about his success, he said: ‘I was hoping this was going to unite us but I’m not so sure now.

There was some horrible stuff there.’
