Are you using the beta WLM? I used the beta one and it caused me nothing but trouble. I'd suggest uninstalling it and sticking with the final release of WLM 8.5. You won't have the fancy extras that you get on the beta, but it's much less trouble.

hannah. 25-11-2008 10:06 PM

..anything in particular happened to the posts in here?

rayheartbliss 25-11-2008 10:06 PM

I have been having problems with Firefox crashing and closing on me, especially when visiting youtube.

It happens on my laptop which is Vista home basic. Not sure with the desktop which is XP, because I seldom go on Youtube on that machine because of the problems I am having with it.

Scarlett. 27-11-2008 02:09 AM

I think its something to do with Firefox then

Carring on from this thread / post

The crashes this evening have been causing me to have to do hard shut downs on the laptop

It seems to happen with Youtube

Apparently they have gone to a new wide format, I do not know if that is connected?

I am worried about my laptop now

I did get a forefox update to 3.0.4, but I am not sure it is going to help.

That has happened to me with Firefox on Youtube since they changed it. Try updating your flash player to the latest (or is it the latest version that causes the problem? :S) get.adobe.com/flashplayer

I also get the 'video no longer available' message on some vids. Adding &fmt=6 or &fmt=16 or &fmt=18 to the youtube address fixes that (one of those :) ).

Does it give an error message? If it doesn't and you have got a lot of programs running things can shutdown without warning in Windows.

Scarlett. 28-11-2008 12:51 AM

I think its cause I hadnt properly shut down my laptop for a few weeks (just closed it and left it like that)

Sticks 28-11-2008 06:02 AM

OK I have now run the latest flash installation

What I still seem to be getting, sometimes never having visited YouTube, is that when a tab is loading, the whole of firefox gives not responding and I can not visit any other tab.

Is anyone who is not using Vista getting any problems with firefox 3.0.x?

So this is a firefox issue rather than a Vista issue?
