You must be good with your hands?

ParentalAdvisory 26-11-2008 10:35 AM

I'm excellent with my hands. In fact, I'm renowned for it.

LargeAndInCharge 26-11-2008 10:37 AM

what hands got to do with concentration

apart for hand and eye co ordination

ParentalAdvisory 26-11-2008 10:40 AM

Hands have everything to do with concentration. How would you like me to perform brain surgery on you with hands which were less than perfect?

Just like the character Preston Burke in Greys Anatomy. Have you ever seen that show? As a Neurosurgeon you might want to take a look.

Lauren 26-11-2008 11:11 AM

Your question is worded weirdly. Do you mean has anyone got any good ideas in order to keep up high concentration?

Cos "Has anyone got any good concentration skills" is really open ended.

LargeAndInCharge 26-11-2008 11:18 AM

yes lauren your right

thankyou

Lauren 26-11-2008 11:25 AM

Is it with school work or something?
The only things I've found to work for me is things like getting enough sleep, and focussing on the aim of what I am doing.
Like if I am doing homework on something, I'll focus on what I want to get done from it, and focus on finishing it - so I'm motivated to "get it out the way".

Also, if it's homework or revision you could increase concentration by giving yourself a treat or reward when you reach a particular target.

Does this help or am I really off in the context? Haha.

LargeAndInCharge 26-11-2008 11:27 AM

no thats fine thanks!!!!

Magic 26-11-2008 07:11 PM

How is your brother, and Dale LargeAndInCharge?
And the ladies?

For concentration, I know drinking water, and exercise every hour or so helps me alot, especially with revision. When I was doing my GCSES I would revise in the garden, and then go for a little run, and get back to work. Not that you can do that in December :bouncy: (Or from July onwards now :cloud:)

Erm I just read over whatever it is and right and out a few times, then cover it up and say whatever it is out loud

Odd that you should mention that show.

However, I think you'll find Derek Shepherd is a neurosurgeon. Preston Burke is a cardiothoracic surgeon, who has now left Seattle Grace due to homophobic remarks made by the actor who portrayed him. His replacement Erica Hahn has also now left, due to homophobic opinions of the people in charge of the Network who air the show. Ironic isn't it?

Getting back to the point: Yes, Preston Burke did perform surgery with less than perfect hands. However, clearly I'm not a neurosurgeon, as I would have more important things to do with my time. Brain Surgery is not for everyone you know. ;)

You said you were a Neurosurgeon then mentioned bad hands and suddenly I thought of the Preston Burke plotline from season three.

So you do watch the show? How else would you know all the stuff you mentioned? You must be a big fan of the show to know Erica Hahn has left; they've only shown to the end of season three on Five. Do you watch it on Living TV?

ParentalAdvisory 27-11-2008 10:37 AM

I'm on Season 5 - Episode 9. It aired in the USA last Thursday. It's my favourite show, hence why I know so much about it.

What a coincidence for me to mention it!!!!

I like it too. It can be a bit hit and miss at times but the characters are great,

ParentalAdvisory 27-11-2008 10:44 AM

I think we both know that there's no such thing as co-incidence. ;)
