The 20-year-old is one of the firm favourites to emerge victorious in the ITV1 series though she faces stiff competition from Diana Vickers, 17, and 16-year-old Eoghan Quigg.

But for So Macho singer Sinitta - a former girlfriend of head judge Simon Cowell - Alexandra's versions of songs by the likes of Whitney Houston, the Jackson Five and Mariah Carey have shown the Londoner to be an accomplished, confident performer.

"I would love Alexandra to win because I think she's amazing, won't embarrass us and will make us proud on the international stage," Sinitta explained.

"But I believe Eoghan will win because he's cute and young and pretty. But I don't think he's the best contestant, actually."

She also revealed she would not have put either Daniel Evans, or the girl groups Bad Lashes and Girlband into the final 12 of this year's competition.

The X Factor continues with a performance from Britney Spears on ITV1 on Saturday.

Sinitta was speaking to promote the EA Christmas Tour, based at major shopping centres up and down the country, to make sure no one receives a rubbish Christmas gift this year.
