Britney Spears settles for Domino's pizza while staying at The Dorchester Hotel
She arrived in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes to a barrage of flashbulbs. Her £6,500-a-night suite is in one of the world's finest hotels with Michelin-starred chefs ready to cater to every gourmet whim.

But pop princess Britney Spears has much simpler tastes. And once she'd settled into the Dorchester Hotel in London's Park Lane late on Friday night, her driver sped off into the night and returned half an hour later... with 11 large pizzas

It's not like she has to watch the pennies, having hired three suites in the five-star hotel where recent guests have included Mariah Carey and Nicole Kidman.

And as part of the room rate, guests have access to a team of dedicated butlers used to the high standards demanded by A-list stars.

But you can take the girl out of the trailer park... you just can't take the trailer park out of the girl.

Instead of dining at Michelin chef Alain Ducasse's Dorchester restaurant, Britters and her entourage shared 11 large pizzas at £13.49 each and five 1.25 litre bottles of Coca Cola at £1.99 each. Clearly peckish, they also had a side order of four portions of £3.99 spicy Chicken Kickers. And for those with a sweet tooth, Brit ordered four tubs of Haagen Dazs ice-cream at £4.99 each.

The total bill for food and fizzy drinks came to £200 - the price of just one item at the Dorchester. A bottle of Krug champagne on room service is £248 while beluga caviar with blinis costs £160.

My Dorchester mole blabbed: "There was high drama when Britney arrived with all the photographers taking pictures. She looked absolutely gorgeous.

"However, there were some raised eyebrows downstairs when they took pizzas up to her room, just because you wouldn't expect someone with her figure to eat that."

Before Britney arrived at the hotel, I also hear she asked for the team to install a treadmill in her room.

Still, Britters probably needs the comfort food after a stressful week dancing off those calories.

She'd been busy in Paris that day, filming music show Star Academy. The day before she was in Germany at the Bambi music awards, then last night she wowed them on X Factor.

After all that, I'd have had the garlic bread too.

MarkWaldorf 30-11-2008 05:18 PM

See, she's so humble and down to earth.

the prices they charge at these top hotels are nothing more than criminal. im glad to read that britney chose to eat some decent food at prices which we could afford. and shop elsewhere which made me laugh. but i doubt its down to the costs. britney is no meany. shes just a normal girl with a good voice and has been very lucky and very unlucky to. i dont know whether i should feel sorry for her or not to be honest.

maybe if the paparazzi had left her alone she maybe able to get on with her life. fame also has a serious price to pay. kiss goodbye to a regular lifestyle like most of us have.

i think it does. you were awaiting the britney fans to say how humble and down to earth she is. or words to that effect. im assuming from your type of response that you are not a fan. "correct me if im wrong." i then responded back to you that britney has had to pay a serious price for her obvious fame. that her life as a singer and performer would have been improved upon if the paparazzi had left her alone. alongside that she has had a lot more to deal with in her life. all of which has been plastered all over our daily tabloids. you now choose to pick on fans who like britney and say how she is so full of herself and hardly down to earth at all. well that is what you may read. but i wouldnt take a lot of that as gospel. that would be silly.

She's actually thinking about something.

No wonder she had pizza. Caviar's disgusting and I have never heard of blinis. Sounds horrible anyway.

pinkmichk 30-11-2008 05:54 PM

i dont like her but given the choice i know i would rather eat pizza than caviar

Indierock&roll 30-11-2008 05:56 PM
