I don't care what anyone says, they can bash me and I'll just rip back into them. It's all down to Britney Spears being on there, it was all hyped up and obviously fans will watch it. Also, I think Miley Cyrus could have brought in more viewers, Hannah Montana is really good and 7 Things is an amazing song.

Its no surprise, this series has been the highest rated series ever and with a hyped up Britney performance it was always going to do well

Why would people tune in to watch Britney during the first show when she wasn't even on? Fair enough in the results show but not the first.

She was advertised to be on The X Factor. Not the The X Factor results show.

They said "plus an exclusive performance" and everyone knows the guest performs in the results show, and Dermot kept saying it too so if someone tuned in just to see Britney during the first show surely they would have figured it was in the second show and turned off?

How do you know they all know that? The results show are always the least rated on the night. Britney was advertised all week on be on The X Factor, not on the results. It says the peak was 12 Million, so people could have tuned in at any given point to see what's happening with it.

I'm not making excuses for it to be Britney's appearance, but it's quite obvious the ratings increase was because Britney was advertised to be on the show.

They all tuned in to watch Miley, how nice of them.

This is my opinion, but i think that people thought Britney would perform in th 1st show instead of Miley, and then either forgot/or went/ were out during the 2nd results show. No matter how much people love Britney, some of her fans could of gone out while IAC was on, thats what my sister did.
