Simon Cowell Says Britney Spears Is 'In Awe' of Him
If Simon Cowell gets his way, Britney Spears could be the next guest star on American Idol.

The British producer raved about the singer after she performed on his British talent show X Factor.

"Of all the artists I have ever had on any of these shows, there was more buzz, more excitement for this girl [than anyone else]," Cowell told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show. "It was as if the president was on the show. I love it. I think if you're going to be a star, be a star."

Cowell, who is a fan of Spears's single "Womanizer", said it would be crazy to not invite her to be on Idol when it returns in January. "I would literally have her on my show every week for the next 10 years," he said.

Spears performed "Womanizer" before listening to the show's five remaining contestants sing her songs. Behind the scenes, Cowell said the superstar was a bit shy. "To be fair, and this may be a bit egotistical, I think she was in awe of me," he said. "She was just staring at me. I said, 'Touch me, I'm human,' and I think that broke the ice."

Cowell also opened up about his recent split with longtime girlfriend Terri Seymour. "I take it day by day, that's the only thing you can do," Cowell said. "You just get through the day. I've given myself years on this one. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's a day-by-day struggle."

LOL! Thats funny! Con Britney fans, I think this is a positive thread about her, so I wont be slating. There is no denying that Britney Spears's got that star level only a few artists have, like Michael Jackon or Madonna. Makes fans go hysterical. I would like to see her on american Idol actually. She woudl probably be more relaxed!

No one likes positive new stories. Could you honestly say that if Britney didn't shave her head, lose her kids ect you would find her interesting and actually spend the time to read about how perfect her life is?

It's why I believe there's so much criticism out there for her. Because she's obviously done a lot of wrong and people eat that up.

I agree about the shave head stuff ect... I just think the press just likes to bring people down who are famous, it makes them feel powerful, and they know people that like to read these story's and use it as a replacement for that age old tradition of dishing the dirt on your neighbors. Bad press sells papers.

Finally I don't think they just do it to just Britney, they try and do it to anyone that goes off the rails, look at Amy Winehouse.

I think its more expectation. It isn't Britney's fault, blame ITV. They hyped it up like crazy and she didn't deliver. If they didn't hype her up the reaction wouldn't be as strong.

But that doesn't mean you can't have some kind of private life. Sometimes the press go to far and help create the problems they go on to report.
