PETA slams Spears\'s \'Circus\' video
 

Animal rights group PETA has slammed Britney Spears for using tamed lions and elephants in the music video for her latest single.

The promo for 'Circus' features the singer in the role of "ringleader" surrounded by the animals as she dances.

PETA Director Debbie Leahy said: "Britney may think her life is a circus, but for the animals who are whipped, chained, and beaten to perform under the real big top, the cruelty is very real."

The group released a statement claiming that Spears continued with the video despite PETA explaining to her "in graphic detail how trainers shock, whip and beat exotic animals into performing".

Spears came under fire from PETA in 2001 when she danced on stage with a yellow python at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Do you think they would have beat the animals on set? They're trained Circus animals anyway, so their trainers would have been there.

I see PETA are still flicking through their Heat magazines to find a celebrity enemy of the week. They need to grow up and actually become useful because nobody will listen to their message if they act like a bunch of tw*ts.

Yeah I dont like those peta people. They are annoying. ANd Like Dezzy said, these petty attacks on really trivial non events, make people not take them seriously, when it comes to real issues!

PETA don't really have any proof that they "beat" the elephants. So there is really no need for them to address this issue unless they had witnesses, or accounts of them doing it on set, seeing as they have no proof then there basically lying. :)

You need to get over the fact that not everybody likes Britney. And there are no 'games with Andy', we both just dislike Britney and when a thread is made about her we reply; it's not usually either me or him that make the thread- this thread is an exception but I'm not 'bashing' Britney in this thread, I said I wasn't commenting on it.

I think Markus knows that everyone doesn't like Britney, and he does respect peoples opinions of her, your just the one that tries and fuels a argument about her the whole time, you just keep playing the same record with your rather lame Britney digs. You do it more a less everyday at any opportunity you can, its getting really tiresome now, and you do it on purpose the whole time just so you get a reaction.:sleep:

If I wanted a reaction from Britney fans I'd go and sign up to a Britney forum and post crap about her, not a Big Brother forum. And if my 'lame digs' (which are actually opinions) are getting tiresome then don't reply to them.

I don't care if you, or anyone else likes her. I said that before. I know not everyone likes Britney. We all have dislikes and likes. But when you enter a thread and insult her or what ever at every given chance, it's annoying and gets tiring.

It's almost EVERY thread now. If you did it once in a while like some, maybe I wouldn't pick on you for doing it all the time.

Yes threads are gonna be started to bash britney. Deal with it. Reply by making an argument, or stay out of it. You cant reply without personally attacking a Forum member, which is not allowed by the rules, so I suggets you either put up with it, or Just get out of the thread!

I think Peta do undermine their cause by highlighting things like this which have no foundation.

They would have more mainstream support if they concentrated their efforts on real abuse/neglect cases, instead of piggybacking on someone else's media attention over something trivial.
