X Factor stars all want to sing last
Alexandra Burke, JLS, and Eoghan Quigg are all reportedly concerned that they might have to perform first on Saturday's X Factor finale.

The acts are worried that they will be picked for the "coffin slot", as it is know in reality TV circles and are keen to avoid the `jinxed' slot.

A show insider claimed that all acts to perform last in recent weeks also topped the viewers vote.

The source told the Star: "They are all on tenterhooks waiting to discover what the draw will be for Saturday.

"None of them really fancy going on first. If you go first, you go home."

In last year's final "Same Difference" performed the opening number and came third.

An X Factor spokesman has said that the order the acts would perform was decided "fairly and by a strict rota".

The trend has been spotted by Irish bookmaker Paddy Power.

Darren Haines, a spokesman for the company, said that they will make whoever sings last the 10-11 favourite to win the final.

The bookmaker revealed that 20-year-old singer Alexandra Burke is the current favourite to win the contest on Saturday.

I've never understood why the people that sing first generally do bad.
Look at Kimberley last year.

Hopefully Eoghan performs first, Might be JLS though, they haven't opened a show yet

The theory is that if you're on first you are less memorable than someone on last.....and looking at who was in the bottom 2 each week that theory had some truth.
What seemed to be really unfair was the running order after diana's 'illness', when in the 3 weeks that followed she went on last but one twice and last. The week ruth went, ruth was on first, yet the week before she had been on second. Don't see how this could have been fair, especially with the close call in the voting.
Good point too......JLS haven't opened yet at all!!:puzzled:

JLS have never opened a show so I'd be very surprised if they never went first. Simon wants Alexandra to win, so she will probably go last because later ones usually top the votes, although it doesn't matter much in the final. That leaves Eoghan second ...

well who ever performed last in the week just gone won't perform last this week, and the same for who performed first. They rotate each week to keep it 'fair'.

looking back on wiki through all seasons of x factor.

The most probable order will be:

JLS
Eoghan
Alexandra

Eoghan won't perform first (as he performed first last week) and JLS won't perform last (as they closed the show last week).

And Eoghan has closed the show twice already, same as JLS, wheras Alexandra has only performed last once, so if they do a 'fair rota' then Alex would perform last in the final.

Also Alexandra is probably going to perform with Beyoncé and if she does then shes obviously the biggest scoop of the night, and if they save the best until last then Alexandra will go last.

But then she could get Westlife as the papers are saying today ...

Generally speaking, if you're on first, people are likely to miss your performance - in the off chance somebody flicks onto ITV and sees the X Factor and decides to watch it, they may only do this half way through etc.

well for the past 2 yars the winner's phone number has ended with 102, hmm strange

Indierock&roll 11-12-2008 03:21 PM

eoghans already been first twice...
i think hell go second alexandra last jls first

If they were singing just one song I could see the argument, but they are singing 3 songs with lots of recaps so that 1 slot wont affect things
