Im tired of X Factor\'s Christmas No.1\'s

Ok, Im watching 4Music....they are doing the Chrimbo No.1's of 97-07

I was enjoying some true classics such as Mad World, then....suddenly, the rest of it turned into X Factor winners...and it made me miss the days of classic songs like Mad World....

Why cant they release it just one week later?
I wouldnt mind the whole show as much then....

lily. 17-12-2008 11:05 PM

I agree with you. It ruins the anticipation of what cack will make it to #1.

Scarlett. 17-12-2008 11:08 PM

It annoys me that some artists have worked on theirs since the summer time, and then some reality show winner gets No.1!

Locke. 17-12-2008 11:08 PM

It's gonna keep happening until X Factor ends, and then after that another show will take its place and probably take the christmas number 1 too.

pinkmichk 17-12-2008 11:09 PM

bring back blobby or bob the builder :laugh3: seriously though it bugs me as well what happened to a actual christmas song maing number 1 surely thats the point

lily. 17-12-2008 11:10 PM

I used to enjoy seeing all the really good tracks coming out that week, alongside all the cheesy ones, and the charity ones, and seeing which one made it.

30stone 17-12-2008 11:11 PM

Simon knows people will want it before christmas and therefore make loads of money. lol

Scarlett. 17-12-2008 11:12 PM

He makes enough money from the phone calls, surely he can wait

lily. 17-12-2008 11:12 PM

If there's one thing Simon Cowell is good at, it's making money!

Scarlett. 17-12-2008 11:13 PM

If someone got me a X factor CD for Christmas......I wouldnt be overjoyed about it

lily. 17-12-2008 11:14 PM

Dammit.. now where did I put that receipt...

And that makes him look like a bit of a hypocrite when he talks about X-Factor as a talent contest.

I'm tired of Christmas records in general. Every friggin' year we're bombarded with the same songs over and over again.

XxShortyxX 18-12-2008 12:41 PM

To be honest I don't care what is Xmas No.1, as long as the person/s can sing!

30stone 18-12-2008 12:43 PM

If there was actually some good christmas songs released this year they would have had a chance but there wasnt any..

NettoSuperstar! 18-12-2008 01:03 PM

Yeh I agree theyve completely spoilt the fun. Lets all D/L Jeff Buckley, people power man!

Wow, I mean, it's just a song that's number one on a certain week? There'll still be Christmas songs out there, it's not like XF is abolishing all Christmas songs from the charts.

And there's hardly any NEW Christmas songs released these days. It's just the old classics re-entering the charts each year. They may have had a number one, now let someone else get the chance.

I was thinking more along the lines of the same old Slade, Wizzard and Wham records but if you want to include Jingle bells then go ahead. :spin2::whistle:

Because Christmas No.1's are usually the only ones remembered

Exactly.
I don't get the fuss about that weeks number 1. I would rather have the X Factor winner than an Xmas song because you can't really listen to the Xmas number 1 in January if it was an Xmas song.
and the X Factor winner song is just giving people more choice rather than the same old songs every year.
The number 1 spot goes to the song which is most popular that week, obviously the X Factor song is more popular than other Xmas songs so it does deserve to chart better than them

Scarlett. 19-12-2008 11:29 AM

"Same old songs"

Arent XF songs always covers of classics?

robb 19-12-2008 12:06 PM

The reason there are no decent new Christmas songs being released is because the big artists know they haven't a snowball in hell's chance of beating the XF winner, whoever it may be, and whatever they sing.
That's why people are turning to old Xmas songs.....Fairytale, Mariah, Wham, etc. etc..................and that's why they keep re-charting.
The fact that Fairytale of New York has never been number one, though, is bordering on a disgrace.
